as it turned out, both of them were not very good. impossible to call and a pity it didn't happen when they were red hot,

voted AA by KO just cause I think that would be the most awesome result.

I could never quite understand the fascination about AA. Quite frankly, he's always been an overrated slugger in my opinion with little else to recommend him.

Now, while I don't consider the Kelly the second coming of Sugar Ray Robinson, he's always been a more techincally proficient (if not overly diverse) fighter with comparable power and an equal chin.

    Kelly UD.

Inaccurate. Both lost their invincible aura that surrounded them in their overlapping reign period of 2007-2008. It must be noted that both had that aura punctured in bouts occurring higher up than MW. (Abraham in the Super Six, and Pavlik in the catchweight showdown with Hopkins).

Both have turned in a number of uninspired performances against lesser opposition since those auras dissipated, but they've still only ever actually lost to very good boxers. Hopkins, Dirrell, Martinez, Froch, Ward & Stieglitz - hardly a shameful half dozen to lose to.

Before the super middleweight tourney, Abraham was still primarily a very slow starter and very one-dimensional. His power was formidable, however, and saw him through 10 title defenses.

Before alcoholism derailed him, Pavlik was a jab-doubling machine with a mean right cross and seek and destroy style that led to maybe the best single-year resume in recent MW history. (kayoing dangerous contender Zertuche in a war to position himself for an eliminator, walking down the favored and then-feared Miranda to get the shot at Taylor, and then dethroning the undefeated champion)

People have a tendency to overrate and love KO punchers always have, always will.

the way he beat jt, and undefeated champion that had never been down before.

from almost being ko'd to koing taylor.

very few fighters are able to accomplish this feat, especially in a championship fight.

newbies dont understand the meaning of this.

Pavlik was always a bad style matchup for AA. Lujuan Simon was splitting AA's guard. Pavlik would have split his head. Why didn't it happen? Everyone seemed to think Pavlik was some kinda cash cow and wanted a ton of money to face him. Arum never said AA/Saurland asked too much for the fight. He just said it wasn't there.

Pavlik would pick up the early rounds, but the high guard will keep AA safe. AA will come on late pick holes in the lazy defence and stop him late.

Pavlik for me. It would be similar to the Froch fight with Pavlik firing loads of straight punches through Abrahams guard. He's not as physically strong as Froch though so Abraham would have his moments where he would push forward and unload, unlike against Carl when he was on the backfoot nearly all of the time. Still though, I envisage a clear Pavlik UD, a 116-112 or 117-111 type decision.

Both had equal power and both had equal chins in my opinion.
Actually AA might have had a slightly better chin but either way I saw this as 50/50 on a neutral location.

KP has the chin to take AAs punches and has the skillset and workrate to beat AA.
    AA gets outworked

As hard as Kelly hits , he wouldent come close to hurting him . Abraham chin is just inhuman at times . But i see Pavlik outboxing Arthur , beating him to the punch , outjabbing him . If the fight takes place in germany , Abraham escapes a robbery with a DRAW .

If the fight takes place in the USA , Abraham loses a wide decision .

    Pavlik wins via UD 116-112/117-111
