In his prime Tyszu had a poor defense, little head movement and a low guard spells disaster. Duran comparatively has an all time great defense and was very hard to hit cleanly Tyszu was ko'd in his prime by the pressure of Vince Phillips and pressure of Hatton past prime. Duran brought intense pressure himself Duran was the better boxer with a superior jab, speed, defense, footwork and timing. He is a better inside fighter and more compact puncher I see Duran outboxing, backing up and laying a systematic beating on Tyszu round after round in a fight that could ruin the Russian Duran KO8
Roberto Duran is a legend. Kosyta does not stand a prayer against a prime Duran, and would be brutally ko'd in 7 or less...
Totally agreed. This man gave Hagler a fight, beat a prime Leonard, and took Barkley's hook. Reigned 6 years at lightweight, and was only ko'd past the age of 30 by a tommy hearns right hand. Kosyta doesn't stand a prayer.
You're an idiot...Duran did his real work at 135 and at 140 didnt face a fighter with even a fraction of Tszyus skill:deal At 140 Tszyu would've handed Duran a serious beatdown.....I'm amazed at everyones silly ass assumption that well Durans a legend and Tszyus not therefore he beats Tszyu:nut Duran wouldve been Tszyus *****
i've noticed everytime you bring a fighter from the 80's into the mix... they always WIN... hmmmmmmm ya old *******s in denial.
Yeah, and I notice some of you so-called young guys who probably never even saw footage of the old guys like Duran, and think that a guy like Kostya could beat a man like Duran, and make fools out of yourselves by talking about us old *******s lol. For the record, I recommend that anyone who thinks Kostya beats Duran should give up their ESB membership. ESB is now installing a fan outragious opinion gadget that automatically goes off the minute lunacy is spit on the boards. They are testing this mechanism by using this thread so be careful of what you say lol...:scaredas: :yep
This would be an amazing, grueling fight. I know this phrase is probably overused, but it would truly be a war of attrition where they both are just busted up going into the last few rounds. I can see a late round stoppage, or a 7-5/8-4 decision either way. If forced to pick a winner, I would slightly favor Duran. As usual, people seem to be underestimating Tszyu's chances in a head to head matchup against another all-time great. If we're talking about primes, then the fights against both Phillips and Hatton shouldn't be indicative of what he would bring to the match. His prime occurred between those two losses, the pinnacle of which was the Judah fight and the unification of all three belts. I ****ing love how a lot of people brand him a quitter, and have him quitting at some point when mythically matched against other greats at 140.
Marvin Hagler and Ray Leonard couldn't hand Duran a "serious beatdown" and yet Tszyu will? Bull****. Has anyone picking Tszyu honestly seen Duran at 135 in his prime. Tszyu may have had better one punch power, he is outclassed in every other way though. Tszyu struggled with pressure, and he would be going up agaisnt arguably the most complete fighter in boxing history. Watch Duran-DeJesus III, Duran-Palomino, and Duran-Leonard I and honestly tell me that you see Tszyu lasting 8 rounds. Kostya was a very talented fighter and should one day be in the HOF, but these two are worlds apart and all you have to do is watch them fight in their primes to see it.
Duran would beat Koysta up pretty badly. As badly as any fighter in history could at 140. Duran TKO10.
