Show me where I said he would beat Duran? I'm just saying... everytime an old boxer is matched to a boxer of this era... the old boxer wins 9 out of 10 times now how is that?
This is a comparison between Tszyu, an excellent fighter for his time, and Duran, an unquestionable top 10 P4P all-time who looks as impressive (if not more so) than any fighter ever. It's not about nostalgia or anything like that, it's about one fighter being obviously superior. Just watch them in their prime. The evidence is on film.
thats what i thaught alot of people dont realise that Kostya's prime was during the early 2000 years in which he looked like one of the best fighters on the planet, when i say prime people usually think Ohh he got beat by phillips and hatton well tszyu was fading when he fought hatton and he way over looked phillips ofcourse many people will favour duran in this fight but to over look a prime KT in any mythical matchup in or around the the 140 weight category is crazy,
Duran by stoppage in the mid to late rounds. Anyone picking Kostya is just either just not looking at this objectively or just doesn't understand styles(or class for that matter). Duran was levels above Tszyu and would've laid a beating on him.
He was arguably the best ever LW and one of the best ever WW's in his early days there, so what makes you think he'd have been so much worse at 140? You have a very simple mind if you think the fact that he hasn't accomplished much at a weight he never stopped at means he couldn't have been successful there, especially if it's well within his prime range.
Unfortunately, I think Tszyu will always be overlooked in head to head matchup against other greats. Because, let's be honest- it's a case where his talent and toughness didn't translate into the best available matchups coming to fruition. Part of that is because it would have been a high risk, low reward situation for fighters like De La Hoya, Mosley, and Mayweather. But part of the blame should also lie with Tszyu, for making two relatively weak title defenses after he unified (Tackie and Leija), coupled with a lot of inactivity. He didn't accomplish enough in his prime to be called the greatest junior welterweight ever, although I think it should be close if you're judging them purely on ability.
okay, tszyu vs. pryor then? i'd say pryor wins, he took arguello's right, which was just about better than tszyu's. only my opinion. duran beats tszyu via decision in 12, k.o in 15.
Duran by late stoppage over 15. Pryor's open style would play directly into Duran's hands, as Pryor made his living mid-range, while Duran was the much better in-fighter and body puncher.
good analysis, but I see it being a draw. at WW, where Pryor was less effective, I favour Duran by K.O.
I know. I'm trying to think of Kostya's best win. I mean Duran beat Leonard so go figure lol... Someone must be :smoke to think Kostya gives Duran a fight.
