I think Steward is trying to show he favors Lewis without saying it. I think he will boss Wlad. Be tougher when it's needed, and rough him in the clinches. This is outlined a little bit with what Magna was saying and what Steward said about Lewis strengths (Pun intended).

Wlad should be favourite but i'm struggling to think of a puncher as fast as Haye that Wlad has fought that didn't knock him out?

It must be a n00b who doesn't realise Lewis feasts on fellow Superheavies, prefering to obliterate them in devestating fashion.

Depends on the gameplan of Haye.

If Haye lunges in with fast headhunting bombs from the opening bell, he stops Wlad within 3 rounds (ala Tyson-Bruno II). He will get hugged a lot once close, but if he can land the fast bombs on the way in, then it will be a short night.

If Haye cautiously circles Wlad from the outside & attempts to win by pot-shotting with the occasional counter, then Wlad soon gets relaxed & implements his "jab, jab, grab" strategy to control the pace & wear down Haye for a late stoppage.

Kalasinn, unfortunately I agree with you. But honestly, do you really see Haye going guns blazing against Wlad? I know against Audley he didn't want him to "land a lucky punch" and had to wait for the 3rd round because he told people to bet on it. But honestly, they were getting booed for starring at each other. You don't have to KO the guy but to fight. Haye was looking to counter because he's uncomfortable leading, and Audley threw nothing making it an awfully boring first two rounds. Haye's also absolutely god uncomfortable on the inside... always bouncing back out to a longer range.

Haye only really went to work after a weak counter had Audley backpedaling to the ropes and there Audley just frighteningly laid on the ropes like a scared puppy. Wlad will command the center of the ring.

Haye talks about trying to "lure Wlad" into a war and believing he can do so. How? He hates pressuring and initiating and leading. The guy has to land a good counter Wlad early and then make him pay. Go after him quickly, make him feel flashbacks of his fight with Brewster and Sanders. If he gets him uncomfortable and panicking, then he has him. Unfortunately, Wlad gives fighters zero chance to counter. He just doesn't give you chances that way, and it's not as easy as it looks to just get off on him.

I just can't see it happening unless Haye knows he needs to be aggressive and finds that hunger and urgency to take chances and be a little wild/sloppy trying to land the necessary shots.

If Haye is tentative as he was in round 1 & 2 with Harrison, then it's "Pizza Face" for him, & a snoozefest for the fans, with Wlad dominating in "jab, jab, grab, jab, jab, grab, grab" style.

Haye needs to lead & bring the power-punching, headhunting pressure. I totally agree that he must force the fight & jump in with big bombs. If Wlad is uncomfortable & panics then Haye will have brought the blitzkreig he needs, but if Wlad is allowed to be comfortable & box saftey-first, then he'll control everything.

This is the most important fight for him to watch over & over in my eyes. It's all about ferociously leading with fast lunging headhunting haymakers from the the start, exactly what Haye must do.

Yeah, and loads of guys ploughing in with "this is fifty fifty type fight" too.

In fairness, I agree with the board. I honestly believe Wlad has an organised puncher's chance here, and Lewis would bash him up.

Lewis would eat his cornflakes out of Wlads skull.

It's not that I don't rate Wlad, but Lewis is all wrong for him.

Lewis fought safety first against smaler oponents, but against guys his own size he turned it into a war and invariably won. Vitally had an awsome chin, but Lewis still beat him when it turned into a street fight.

Lewis makes this into a war and wins it.

Even in his cruiserweight days, I've never quite seen Haye so aggressive in his mentality as a fighter. Even against Fragmonicia or whoever you spell that Italian guys name couldn't punch much and had Haye backing up jabbing, taking his time, measuring, and trying to counter. Even when he produces devastating KO's it's usually when a fighter's either A- Coming toward him where he blast a 1-2 through or B- Countering them. Haye does seem to try to find a fighter's rhythm to almost pre-counter them like he did in his fight against Enzo where he can time a fighter's movements and rhythm. But Wlad is too technical, too smart, measured for Haye to be able to do this. And he won't take the chances I fear because Wlad has all the weapons of a jab, right hand, and left hook for Haye to worry about.

And it's not just an aggressive mindset. It's being able to initiate and lead well. Haye just doesn't seem able to be comfortable moving forward and doing this. Definitely NOT at HW. We seem to agree, though. He needs to channel his inner Mike Tyson.
