Another classic heavyweight match up. I asked this in a popular boxing group on my facebook and some argued that I'd be like Liston and Ali because of how slick and clever Joe was. Some argued that Liston would win in the same way Marciano did where he'd be behind on the cards but his power eventually gave him the Win in the later rounds...however people discredit Liston's Boxer Puncher status. So let's discuss
I think highly of Joe but to me this bout would be all wrong for him. His clever moves and countering wouldn't work against the telephone pole jab coming at him from Sonny followed by barrages with both hands. Eventually Walcott would tire from the coming after him Liston and be put down and out.
