Nope. Hearns and Leonard would both definitely beat Pac and I think it's probable that Duran would. I say people are underestimating Benitez because I dont think people realise how great a fighter he was and how his style matches up to Pac's. Thats why I said someone saying Pacquiao would definitely beat him is underrating him.
Would be a snoozefest tbqh, Pac would land some and could maybe KTFO him, but I honestly doubt it, I see Benitez comfortably taking him to a UD if he's prepared and in good shape. Pac loses to all these guys except Pryor, who i think he can **** up :deal
you said word for word "Saying you 'think' someone will win is not underestimating a fighter, saying a fighter would 'definitely' win is though" but then you completely disregard the same standard against Pac. just goes to show the kind of double standards boxing fans have against Pac.
The Duran that beat SRL and whupped Palomino unfortunately beats up Pacquiao. Benitez just outclasses him period. Pacquiao clearly has real trouble with counterpunchers and El Radar is tops here. Remember guys, these dudes are real, proven welterweights most of whom have big size advantages on Pac.
That was said in context of this thread. Obviously it doesn't apply throughout the sport, which I didn't think I would have to spell out. Maybe I could have phrased it better, but I assumed it went without saying. And seriously, get over it. 'Somebody thinks Pac would lose to a fellow great fighter, he must be a hater.' Well I'm not, I'm actually a fan, but, unlike you, I haven't got the blinkers on. Let me guess, you think it's 'disgraceful' that people believe Hearns would spark Pacquiao? I happen to think a prime Wilfred Benitez, at his absolute best(which he would have to be) would beat Pac. It's completely logical as well, I've watched quite a lot of his fights, and I think people underrate him when they say Pac would 'definitely' win. I don't think it's underrating Pacquiao to say that the 6"1 beast of a 147 pounder Thomas Hearns would destroy him because, how can you realistically expect Pac to win? Understand? Or will you take the traditional 'does not compute, imply he is a hater' route?
What we can say is that people often get their pac predictions wrong by saying a guy will be too big and easily beat him, yet nobody destroys or easily beats him. Sure he could lose but its fair to give pacquiao credit after amazing us all time after time and say he might be able to hold his own in the ring with them.
No doubt. And I think he'd be competitive with all save for Hearns. You have to be realistic in that scenario, there is saying he's to small for De La Hoya and Cotto and then there is this. In no way is it disrespectful to say he'd be comprehensively beaten by Heans, it's coming up with a logical answer because Hearns wasn't big, Hearns was absolutely massive and is a H2H nightmare for every figher in WW history.
I agree...it's not impossible for Pacquiao to win in a (fantasy) bout against Hearns and Leonard. But the odds are definitely stacked against him...these guys aren't Clottey, Cotto, or Margarito. They are better than them in almost every way, they are genuine ATG's at the weight class. They started their careers off at Welterweight and went on to bigger things...speed is arguably not an advantage for Pacquiao, power is most likely not in his favour, size, etc etc. Not impossible because Pacquiao has gotten through his Welterweight competition so far with relative ease...but definitely stacked against him.
Leonard wins a close but unaminous decision in 15. Piles up the points, but gets clocked a few times. Hearns KO's Pacquiao ala Duran. Much too tall and strong. Pacquiao defeats Duran at 147 by decision. Duran, though quick himself, has a tough time with quick boxers. Pacquiao's quickness frustrates him. Pryor KOs Pacquiao. The Pryor who kod Arguello would KO Pacquiao. Pacquiao would win alot of exchanges, and be ahead on points, but Pryor had an iron chin (see both Arguello fights) and would eventually KO Pacquiao in the 13-14th round if it was a 15 rounder, 10-11th in a 12 rounder. Pacquiao outpoints Benitez in a very close decision. Strategic fight, Pacquiao though outpoints him with stronger punching.
