Two of the biggest upset winners in heavyweight history pitted against one another. I'm talking Buster Douglas the night he outsped and pounded Tyson into a knockout versus Schmeling the night he stopped Louis.

Who wins? My pick is Douglas. Too fast for the unathletic and plodding Schmeling.

Douglas blasts him out with relative ease.

Yeah. Schmeling was good in the dark ages but in today's world, guys like prime Douglas would constantly beat Max before he could get a punch off.

And I don't have to tell you what Tyson or Bowe would do to him. :bbb :tired

Schmeling was a consistent great fighter, who beat very good opposition, you can´t compare him with the nine-days wonder Douglas, IMO Max would KO him pretty early...

We're talking about the version who beat Tyson, not just any version.

Also Schmeling himself was not that consistent. Getting pounded by Baer, starched by Daniels, etc.

Against the bum Daniels he wasn´t prime, and against Baer it doesn´t count, because Max was himself a great fighter...

Max Baer was not a great fighter.

    I didn't say he was a bum.

There is a huge gap between being a great fighter and being a bum. Baer was somewhere in between that gap.:good

No, he was at least very good, and with the right alignment he could have been a Top10 HW of all times...

You can say exactly the same about Douglas.
