Has Foreman ever beat a better counter puncher than Schmeling? He had two opportunities in the 70s and got put on his seat both times.

The reply will be something like" George couldn't of gone through the opponents Louis did at the rate he did" with no names given lol...George Foreman slaughters the opposition far easier

Why don't we keep it as whether he beats Schmeling or not, I mean that was Louis's opposition right ?? The answer is of course he does, he wrecks him !

Because it was a popular boxing slur in the 30s.

Because I won't call top rated contenders with successful careers bums?

It was called "the bum of the month tour", whether you want to use that term or not is irrelevant ! FACT

Did he wreck Peralta x2, Young, Lyle, and Ali? Those were the best counter punchers he fought. After that you have Boone Kirkman.

So is your whole argument just that it was called "The Bum of the Month Tour" by some critics? I don't think anyone disputes that as a fact.

If you want to ignore the historical context and actual attributes of his opponents and rely on a turn of phrase, that only shows the weakness of your argument.

Schmeling fought Baer when he was the most feared puncher in the game, he took on Joe Louis twice, even Mickey Walker was a gamble. There is no basis for implying Schmeling would duck anyone. Do you just make random stuff up and rely on..."it's fantasy" safety net?

Farr had a jab and a good chin he couldn't manage to win a fight in the States losing all his 5 bouts there.
Louis hurt his hand early in their fight otherwise he would probably have stopped Farr.
Farr had nothing to keep Foreman off of him with.
Schmeling was a good puncher but not in Foreman's class for power or chin.
Conn was a great lhvy who came in at 168lbs for Louis, no 168lbs man beats Foreman, eventually he walks him down.
Pastor was a good boxer without power.Louis had him down 6 times.and Conn ko'd him. He isn't beating Foreman.
George's lateral movement puts too much pressure on the undersized Conn and Pastor, if they survive till the end they lose clearly on points.

Walcott is the only possible threat I see.

Five of Joe's opponents were unranked. I'm a huge Louis fan ,but lets not pretend the challengers in the late 30's and early 40's were anything special.

    Cool straw man, bro.

You'll have to remind me where I said they would beat Foreman. I was asked for opponents that would give the slower Foreman more trouble than Louis.

And once more, it's not about how the best Foreman matches up against these fighters in a vacuum. It's about Foreman matching Louis' pace and being consistent, something he couldn't do in his own era at a more controlled pace against overall lesser competition.

lyle was a counter puncher? Schmeling had as much in common with lyle, young and ali as a cat with a platypus

That's my biggest laughing point with these threads.

I guess that's why they call em "fantasy" fights....but it's insulting to the guys who actually put in the grueling work to maintain ATG consistency to give every fighter that ability in fantasy fights.
