Not often I agree with you, but you're right on the money here. It's not a coincidence, that their were guys like Bruno, Ruddock, Tyson, and a plethora of big punchers around, yet he somehow missed out on all of them.

Considering multiple common opponents said an old Foreman hit harder than a peak Lewis, I think it's pretty clear.

Lewis almost knocked Botha through the ropes.

I could see Bowe taking a lead, and a beating at the same time. Foreman by late round TKO in the 9th.

I like Bowe, but I feel he is kinda overrated.

As it was mentioned by other posters, he was untested versus heavy punchers.
Bowe got the heck beaten of him twice by Golota. He should lose those fights fair and square, but was gifted victories because Golota's obssesion with his gonads.

Funny how much a couple of underserved wins can change perceptions on Bowe.

    Amazingly interesting post!

I guess I never noticed how less effective George's jab was in the post Zaire fight. He also sure did move differently.

I'm grateful you pointed that out. It amazes me Clancy tripped him up like that...maybe the Zaire thing made Foreman think he needed to try something new.

George Foreman had a better, stronger jab. He was physically stronger in the clinch and Bowe liked to fight on the inside with uppercuts and short shots......................that's kinda dumb against Foreman. Neither incarnation of Foreman's career was anybody pushing him back with any consistency, at all really.

I don't think Bowe makes it past 5-6 rounds.

Thanks rules. On paper, they should've made him a better fighter, but they just didn't. Every aspect of his game worsened dramatically.
