I think Frazier took a good shot unless like all fighters he got caught square coming onto a punch blind. He did some funny dancing in a few fights but he never was out cold. Outside of Holmes and ALi, Joe took it as well as most champs.

from bleacherreport. The man known as “Smokin’ Joe” is remembered for many things—heart, power, aggression and passion for his sport. But in the ring, he's remembered the most for his first loss to George Foreman and his epic trilogy with Ali.

It was the final installment of said trilogy that showed the world that Joe Frazier had a chin cut from marble. He took such a brutal beating in that fight that it probably would have killed anyone else.

Even though he was destroyed by the much larger Foreman, it is known and widely accepted that Joe Frazier had one of the best chins in heavyweight history.

Tyson had a better chin than Frazier and was less likely to be hurt or dropped by a single punch.

Frazier had better stamina than Tyson (and just about any other fighter ever) and was mentally tougher. He was also more consistent in his head movement.

Guys that Foreman knocked out in two rounds or less. Post 1972.

    There's Cooney.

Jose Roman, but it's one round.

    Bert Cooper

    Adilson Rodriguez

Not to mention all the journeymen like Bobby Hitz, David Jaco, and Tom Trimm.

So basically, Frazier lasted just as long as the likes of David Jaco, Bert Cooper and Jose Roman vs Foreman?

And this guy is supposed to have a great chin?

He was the champion, undefeated and coming off a big win over Ali

Not only that, he was the favourite to beat Foreman.
