Gatti wasn't only a brawler but also the better boxer even if Rios could somehow beat Gatti in exchanges Gatti could still stay on the outside and outbox him
If Gatti boxed and moved like he did in certain fights he would win a clear decision if he went toe to toe with Rios it would be anyone's fight it could literally go either way.
Who did he actually outbox, he could box front of bums, use to swell so easily Rios TKO 8 after Gatti face takes too much damage, Rios is just better than Gatti, He is tremendously overrated, can you imagine Rios losing to a Micky ward, damn that guy was worse than Murray - who Rios stopped whilst being seriously weight drained. I actually like Gatti (RIP) and kind of dislike Rios, but fact of the matter is Rios>Gatti - who's boxing is overrated due to his stance and the fact that he outboxed bums.
:deal While Gatti arguably had the skills to outbox him, he's Arturo Gatti because he'd opt to go to war any way.
Gatti was a fun fighter but really he wasn't as fierce as we like to remember him as. Up against someone he won't have size advantages over and will be the inferior puncher and be able to absorb less punishment, he'll lose. Yeah he could box a bit, but only against lesser opposition that didn't know how to drag him in to wars. That's a Rios speciality. Gatti will say yes to a war and that will be his downfall because he'll give Rios the fight he wants. Rios late stoppage on cuts.
Rios kicks his ass. Gatti couldn't control himself when it came to wars. Rios would be the bigger, stronger man in the ring and tear him apart.
Rios would slaughter Gatti. Rios is huge compared to Gatti, and Gatti was affected by guys like Ivan Robinson and Angel Manfreddy hitting him, who re not exactly devastating punchers. I love the man, but against someone that would have the size advantage on him instead of the other way around, and a dud who can take crazy punishment the way Rios can, Gatti is at a real disadvantage.
