Tua was a powerful heavyweight with a powerful punch. So was Foreman. Neither had much to write home about as far as defense goes so bombs would be landed and early. Tua had enough power to hurt Foreman as well. Who gets this matchup?

Foreman had great glove control he would use his long arms like Sandy Saddler to stifle the shorter armed Tua just like he did v Frazier plus he took Lyle`s best punches and came back proving he had heart and a great chin, Tua never proved that, Tua would have to get past Foreman`s long range bombs to get inside, same problem Frazier had, I think Foreman wins but it might have been a classic like Lyle v George.

If George jabbed and conserved energy, he would win. If he tried to bomb Tua out, there would be a good chance of Tua stopping him.

I favor george but if tua goes into a shell and george tires out, tua would have a huge opportunity!

Answer? See Foreman-Chuvalo, and George was still green. And a prime pre-Ali George would have put Lyle to sleep inside of two rounds. After Zaire everyone was coming out of the woodwork touting George's shortcomings. Ali fried his brain, Ali held all the cards, Ali dictated the fight venue (should have been in the Astrodome), and Ali basically went into Zaire as the Champion, not the challenger. Ali was the Greatest but not so much in his second career not to mention we didn't see him in his prime. Zaire, the hoopla, etc...the ropes (yes!) etc. all played a part.
Back to thread: Prime Foreman uses the jab and reach, starts bombing (takes a few) and has Tua ready to go somewhat early.

I can't see Foreman just bowling Lyle over without encountering trials and tribulations along the way.

old Foreman on points, prime Foreman early KO, but Tua could weather the storm and still lose on points

Foreman by TKO. George could punch down real well. I don’t see any come forward puncher beating him at his best. Especially the smaller guys Marciano Frazier Tyson Tua . Although it would be interesting to try and see George push Tua off of him

Cus D`Amato told Tyson while they studied Frazier v Foreman that to come forward v Foreman as a short armed fighter was suuicide, Foreman just pushed Frazier to the outside every time he got inside, meaning Joe was too far out to land while the longer armed Foreman could tea off at will and Frazier was far better thanTua.

I like either version of Foreman on points but it wouldn't be easy. Tua was powerful and had a granite chin.
