well I know how you derive your opinions they're actually based on what someone else have said and these people made a deep impression on you when you were young
I watched the films and have never seen Max back up Joe. All I remember was Joe's left jab nailing Max and ending Joe taking him out with a series of hooks
Bad matchup for Foreman. Joe Louis would beat him to the punch repeatedly and also beat him to the counterpunch. Not saying Foreman won`t land or have his moments. I wouldn`t be surprised if both guys saw the canvas. Problem is Foreman isn`t going to be able to get off the deck and survive the Brown Bomber`s finishing assault. Joe Louis was too precise and accurate to let a guy walk to him without a jab and his chin up in air begging to get lit up. Joe Louis by Knockout in a short explosive bout.
Right. That`s why Foreman gets knocked out. In reality nobody is taking clean shots from Louis without getting hurt. Foreman won`t be getting the clean shots that the Brown Bomber gets. Maybe Rocky could but as you put it this is reality.
Given Foremans shallow resume and lack of domimance i find it mind boggling that people are so confident of his chances againat someone who dominated their era like Louis did. Is it the Jimmy Young loss that makes you so confident or the two title defenses?
Foreman fought in an era in which a shot Ali held the title for years until he had deteriorated to the point that he lost to a seven fight novice. Yet he is supposed to have fought in some sort of golden age the age of Spinks I suppose.
Your right technically but Ali was beaten a couple of times during that period. The judges kept the title for him longer than he should of had it. It wasnt a lack of quality opponents. Ali was beaten in 1976 by Ken Norton and also by Jimmy Young.
The 30s have issues as well though a guy like Toney Galento for example probably should not have risen as far as he did. Him reaching the status of a top contender is perhaps a bit of a stain on the era.
What an agenda driven stretch. When Foreman fought Ali he was a long long way from "shot" yet you try to link the two. So a shot Ali held the title for years? Do you even know what "shot" means. What exact "years" did he hold the title when "shot"?????
This content is protected Baer brawled him easily into a corner until his brute amateurish intention backfired on him. Maybe you should watch the fight a little closer. Foreman was million years obove amateur Baer. I have no idea how people rate this a bad matchup for Foreman. Louis certainly is no Ali/Young-type of fighter. He doesn´t have this tools in his box. As I said earlier about consistency: I think most of Louis opposition was realy not good.
