It'd be an advantage, of course, but I'm not so certain if it'd be enough to win the fight. I don't know who to call here, but expect fireworks to go off early, and the fight to end not too soon afterwards.
Cooney was the better puncher, I think he ends it rather quickly but Cooney was a frail guy I just dont think Big Cat can get to him before Cooney gets to Big cat
Williams record was just as padded as Cooneys, Cooney had some better wins like Lyle and Young, but they seemed way too easy. Williams and Cooney are both overrated, Cooney cause of Holmes bout and White hope hype, Willimas was promoted right and bought along to contender status, then flunked. Maybe if he had not been shot in 1964 he would have improved, but he went downhill after being wounded in kidney by cop bullet.
This is correct. They are both overrated. Williams was groomed correctly then indeed flunked where as Cooney ridiculously became a million dollar contender on account of the distasteful mainstream attention he received bypassing decent seasoning. After the Holmes fight Cooney was no more potent as Williams was after that shooting. The difference was by 1964 Williams was already 33 years old and had had 67 fights so without the shooting williams could never have improved.
By 1964 Williams was 30 years old and looked as good as ever being on the verge of a WBA title shot against Terrell. Cooney wasted his career by drinking and inactivity while Williams's career was derailed because he got shot.
But after 67 fights the cat was not going to get any better. he drew with a contender who johansson Knocked out in a round many years earlier and went the full ten rounds twice with a guy (daniells) who terrell and chuvalo KOd. That was by 1964 - he was no more the world beater cooney ever was generations later...
Yet frankie daniels went ten rounds with the big cat twice, I dont get it.:huh wold you say Cooney is a different fighter to London? was frankie daniels a better fighter than brian London?
