Can Golovkin in his prime dominate his weight class now? Who are the fighters who can beat him in close weight class?

Prime? Golovkin thumps them. Maybe Bivol might be a problem if he could really make 168

Leaving out Canelo (obviously), Golovkin would have no trouble with anyone from 154-168 except maybe Caleb Plant. Benavidez and Morrell are no longer SMW's so I'm leaving them out as well. At MW I don't see him having trouble with the "current" Lara. I think Hamzah Sheeraz is looking like he might be one of those real deal types, but I'd need to see more to pick him against a "Prime" Golovkin. Everyone else would be cannon fodder IMO

Prime GGG, what is that exactly?

I'll go by what GGG has actually done in his career. He picks up a vacant belt at 160, most likely the WBA, makes a bunch of defenses, calls out Crawford, Vergil Ortiz, Spence, Barrios... ****, even calls out Ryan Garcia. Those fights never materialize, his fans claim people are ducking him so he marinates in the dead 160 division for nearly a decade despite Benavidez, Beterbiev and Bivol calling him out. Never challenges himself or has a tough fight in his career, loses to a small fighter he was favored to beat, let's say Jaron Ennis in this situation... his fans complain about it a decade later while crowning him an ATG.

In other words, he needs to go up to a division that he never fought in to be impressive to you LOL

I personally don't care, I'm just highlighting how GGG's career went. I didn't even include the part where he ducked every major challenge after he got paid, he literally gave Lara his belt, pretty absurd career all things considering.

30 year old GGG destroys everyone, including Canelo, but he already did that at 35 and 36

GGG would never fight Benavidez at 168 be serious. He would beat everyone else though. If Chris Mbilli destroys Derevyanchenko I don't think GGG would fight him either

Hmmm Benavidez at 168 would be a tough task. I'd have loved to have seen it.

If you exclude Canelo I'd still fancy GGG to whoop everyone's asses fr.

& that says more about the middleweight divisions, far far far from what it used to be.
