You may very well be right. That doesn't mean the attributes SRR processed over G, wouldn't be enough to get a win. Speed, footwork and reach. Something SRR knew how to use very well. Also, consider that SRR wasn't afraid to exchange punch for punch. No upper body movement needed. He believed he had the power and chin to out last his opponent. Going by his record, he was right. As far as Canelo being more skilled goes. His last fight, he was dismantled by a guy that had reach, speed and footwork, something you easily dismiss. Guy only needed an educated jab to neutralize everything Canelo brought into the ring. Canelo was neutered by a guy with less than 1/3 of the pro experience. Now, I know you'll probably come back with SRR never stepped into the ring with a master like Bivol, and I'd have to agree with you, but Canelo, being so skilled, couldn't slip a simple jab with all that great upper body movement? More skilled than Robinson? LOL.
I don't like polls like this. SRR was greater, successful from lightweight to middleweight, and GGG was an 170 pound middleweight with Soviet school boxing and practically unlimited access to modern nutritional science, gear (PEDs) and footage/analysis of the great masters of the sport. Would Lasker beat Carlsen? Did Carlsen reign for 27 years? My friend throws a 95mph fastball, and the fastest pitcher in Babe Ruth's day generally wouldn't see above an 85 in a game. People feel that admitting a fighter from 80 years ago wouldn't stand up to a certain modern fighter diminishes their legacy. Maybe it does, but I don't care that my friend pitches far better than anybody playing in Babe Ruth's day, it doesn't make him greater than the best pitchers of those times. Does being the "best ever" increase your greatness? Yes, of course, but a better measure in the historical sense, with the evolving nature of sport, is to see how long they were the best.
I don't Dismiss it as I said srr had mutiple flaws like what's so hard about admitting a person who is more up to date would win is hard for you people?srr just wouldn't win how he was he would need to add more to his movements, did you ever think that the reason can had trouble with the jabs is cause those jabs were thrown by a person who uses them in a more complex way cause the era are with better skilled fighters? Srr skills were enough for his era of basic fighters same with Ali,they both would need more training to hang with 90s-people now
Sugar Ray was a welter, GGG is a good size middle with a long pedigree in the amateur ranks much stronger a pressure fighter with a great stamina I don't picture how Ray will survive.
Srr fought and made out of date people look bad...so that means he can make a up to date fighter look the same....srr isn't that impressive to me when looking at how people ggg fought and himself fights
This is like saying Bill Russell vs Shaq. Boxers are better now point blank period. Loma would school loocmhe. Crawford would best Arm Strong, Spence would beat Leonard, and Wilder would beat Dempsey,
Some odd dude actually blocked me cause I pointed out flaws which made Ali's style old even in 80s and he said the copycats of ali didn’t do good cause they didn't have speed, as if speed would fix the flaws even though they were more advanced then him the style was just to old,its like these people here hold these fighters to a God like status odd
Tell me one thing GGG can do that Robinson couldn`t? Name one fighter that could tyhrow beter combos than Ray, his hands were quicker than GGG`s.
Leonard was quicker than Spence and Hearns would have toyed with Spence easily he even knocked out a light heavy.
