    I've seen it said on here several times.. If that had being, let's say 82 - 83 version of Hagler, in against the Leonard that beat him.. No contest.

    If Leonard could only get a disputed split win over an Ageing Hagler, then what happen s if he faced the younger version?

    I've always thought so.

    Heck no. Worst case scenario for Leonard is it's at least competitive for multiple rounds.

    No, still a very close fight. If Duran can give Hagler a close run in 1983, Leonard certainly can.

    Hagler won the later fight imo
    You are correct in a sense, Halger was basically still in his prime when he fought sugar ray. Put it another way, Hagler was not yet in decline when they fought;

    Some people agree, some don't. Either way it's a close fight and not a very good one. Hagler would be far busier if this fight has happened and maybe he wouldn't have come out as a 'righty' in the first four rounds. But Leonard had much more speed back then- and, as Mike Colbert proved a few years before, Marv wasn't at his best when an opponent rode on his bicycle.

    Looks like it was almost one of those fights that came down to who celebrated more confidently at the end of the match. And that was definitely Sugar Ray. You know, same thing happened with the Holyfield / Moorer fight.

    Hagler silly celebration jig told me that he wasn't sure that he really thought he'd won.

    Obviously it would have been quite one sided although Ray would still have taken Marvin the distance in my opinion. Prime for prime it would have been a really close one and a candidate for fight of the year.
