Oh really? The constant hitting and holding, the head digging into the chin nonstop, the elbows in the neck, the wrestling on the ropes... those are all tactics that you see a lot in major fights in the US? Hatton's a good fighter. Good enough to beat Paulie, which counts for something, but the FACT is that the ref let him do anything he wanted in the KT fight which included grabbing KT's arms for dear life and not letting go except to throw a quick rabbit punch, then grab on again. He also let him headbutt and elbow and wrestle KT back into the ropes anytime he was able to work his way off of them for a second. It was an MMA match as much as a boxing match, and wrestling and elbowing are hard on old fighters. Would a young prime Hatton have beaten an old KT in a fight with less clinching and mugging? We'll never know, but I doubt it. I think putting Hatton on the same level as Bradley is just about right, but honestly I'm not all that sure Hatton would ever beat Lamont Peterson. We all know Castillo was absolutely shot to shreds, and everybody knew that going into the fight, and if you can't see Bradley beating a bunch of B level fighters like Maussa, Collazo and Urango then you must not have much imagination.
who has peterson beaten anywhere near to hatton? as far as bradley beating collazo i don't think he would, and if maussa at the time could ko harris there's the chance he could ko bradley and the same goes for urango they certainly wouldn't be walkovers.
it wasn't at 147, and you really think he would have lost that fight if the ref hadn't let him tie his lace?
Agreed. Except I would favor Bradley. I don't think Hatton could effectively do his charge/punch/hold schtick too well against him, thus eliminating his only real edge.
I think Bradley would trouble him and if he doesnt stop Khan quick, I pick Khan to stop him. Khans speed would beffudle him and he has decent pop now too. Hattons chin was always succeptible, it showed in all his fights, KT just couldnt get off and everytime Hatton got caught, he fell on to Kotsya and held on to rest. Overall he would be favourite to rule the division, he did make some B class fighters look B class and hanged with with PBF.
Oh yes. Without that little break, Hatton was going to be on his face, he was in baaaaaad trouble. Re Peterson, I didn't say I was SURE he would beat Hatton. I respect Hatton.... but I wouldn't bet a whole lot on him v. Peterson even on his best day. Peterson's a good fighter, just not quite as good as Bradley. I'm not sure Hatton is quite as good as Bradley either.
PBF allows a lot of fighters to 'hang with him' that he doesn't really have to, it's just his nature. He's not a killer. RJJ had the same mentality.
if he didnt bloat up like he does between fights, he could concentrate more on refining his style rather than shedding 40 lbs in the training camp.
Hatton beates them all, except Tim Bradley IMO. And I still consider Pac as a natural 140lber, so prime pac still wins vs prime hatton
