I stand corrected that he never had a super middle fight...thought he did...but it doesn't change a thing I said. He was an unremarkable titlist, and the fact that Haye was stopped by a former LHH says about the same thing.
Haye was a stud. It speaks sadness that the two most showcase wins for the Klitschko s at that point were from a cruiserweight and a light heavyweight. David haymaker haye and Tomasz highlander adamek. Just like Corrales (Lord bless Diego) he wanted to fight Tito Trinidad, or at least invited the idea of facing him, to see who had more power? In this case, David hate carried his power to hw, and Tomasz adamek had a strong Catholic faith, so perhaps I was being too hard on the Klitschko s but these were big wins when you look back on their careers, maybe just not showcase worthy.
I fancy Haye late on to get the stoppage whilst ahead on the judges scorecards. Both men fight in bursts, but I think Haye’s speed advantage would have been the deciding factor here.
Close fight. From what we've seen so far of AJ, his prime was 2017-2018 (Klitschko, Povetkin, Parker). He was patient and excellent at putting combinations together, especially when he had his man hurt. Haye was always a counter puncher so AJ now (the boxer) had a way better chance as he'd be staying way outside of Haye's range. AJ has a good few inches reach advantage, but Haye would throw shots from all kinds of angles and AJ has always had a high and blinding guard. So for me it comes down to who lands the heavy shots first. Both great finishers and both with suspect chins. Though Haye did fight on despite being injured against Bellew. So maybe he would fight on where AJ would quit. What's for sure is, it would have been a great fight. Shame we'll never see it!
I never made the argument that either of them are/were great. I said they were great finishers, and that it would have been a great fight.
70/30 Joshua Joshua has shown more balls and heart in his career than Haye, he also has a much better heavyweight resume, so I'd make him favourite.
Maybe but AJ`s left hook isn`t well developed despite him setting up the knockdown v Ruiz with a left hook, he`s not two-fisted enough to be a great finisher.
The thing is though mate it totally changes what you say…. Haye got stopped by a very good tough wise fighter at the tale end of his career in hayes 11th pro fight:…. If you watch the fight you will understand how Haye got stopped he just gassed after battering Carl for 8 rounds I believe Haye beat himself really … and that’s taking nothing away from Carl it’ wouldn’t have happened again …. Your example is just poor all round and tells me you just look at stats and fight record history and not actually the fight itself or circumstance and you probably weren’t a fan at the time … your comments are different to the facts and actual history and you have bent them to suit your narrative …. Poor boxing knowledge my Friend.
David Haye was a lot better fighter than he gets credit for. Serious power and speed in his prime. I wouldn’t rule him out starching AJ. He did struggle against the taller Klit who kept him away with the jab. If he AJ boxed the same he would win, a slugfest I would go with Haye. One of those fights it would have been great to have seen but Haye was already shot by the time AJ was rising.
