This is a "prime" combo we have yet to see. What do you guys think? I say Holmes beats Haye like he stole something for 10 solid rounds before his corner throws in the towel.

I think they're both the same height, so my money would be on a draw.

I'll take Haye by mid round KO, Holmes lost to Spinks twice and he was smaller than Haye.

iam a haye fan but a prime holmes was more than a match for any HW in any era holmes to jab hay silly for 12 long rounds with haye occasionally landing

Am i seriously reponding to a thread about a mythical match-up between a legitimate ATG HW and a guy who's only sort of notable hw-fight so far was against Monte Barrett?? After typing this i really have to slap myself... Anyway Holmes was about the same size as Haye, just as quick (at least), had arguably the best jab in hw history, a skill-set unlike anything Haye has seen, a rock-solid chin to say the very least etc. etc., Holmes by ko within 6 rounds.

Haye's not fought the top HW's yet, so the question is seriously loaded. Ask the same question in a 3 years time

David Haye isn't beating Larry Holmes...Sorry.. In my opinion, he hasn't proved himself as being beyond the capabilities of beating the less than talented group of cruiserweights on the Euro-circuit over the past few years, and was even beaten by one of them, while floored by another. In the one year that he's marketed himself as being a " heavyweight ", he has fought all but one opponent - a past prime journeyman. Should he beat a 36 year old Valuev, it won't prove much either, given that a 46 year old Holyfield who was off for 15 months and following a loss, basically did the same thing...

Larry Holmes fought some of the hardest punchers in history, and proved that he could go the distance over 15 rounds while taking huge loads of punishment. His jab, footwork, and dangerous right uppercut were like nothing Haye ever saw nor ever will....

    This is a mismatch.

Larry Holmes would disect Haye in 5-6 rounds, and put his ass in check inside 8. This is not even a fair fight. This would be one more fight where Larry keeps looking at the ref like "What the **** ya want me to do? Kill him?" It would be as one sided as Holmes vs Marvis Frazier, and far more one sided than Holmes vs old Ali.

OMG, is this serious? Holmes is an ATG HW. He would absolutely destroy Haye. His jab alone would reduce Haye to a wimpering little boy, before knocking him into oblivion with the overhand right. See the Marvis Frazier fight for an idea of how this would play out.

I think that Haye would do better than Marvis Frazier and old Ali. Haye could knock Holmes down in this fight, but Larry would get up to win by stoppage.

Holmes was also 36 at the time and got jobbed in the rematch.

Holmes would do to Haye what he did to Leon Spinks.

what has Haye showed you to make you think this?

He has never even fought a legit Heavy Weight, and even at Cruiser weight only fought bums... Enzo Mac was garbage so don't give me that as an excuse.

Alot of fans like to say that Americans hype Boxers up a lot ( which happens everywhere, its marketing ) , but good god... Haye is already considered a great HW fighter by some, before he has even done anything at all. How is this not Hype that you have all bought into? He needs to prove himself, and sorry but Valeuv doesn't prove much either.

The Haye fans might even be more delusional than the Froch fans. Truly bizarre.
