Holyfield had quicker hands and better footwork. Holyfield was 217 Lbs. vs. Bowe in 1993 and in my opinion had a great fight plan vs. a big and talented Heavyweight. This was somewhat of a last hurrah for Holyfield at this level but he was in great shape, well prepared, and had Manny Steward. I think Holyfield was as strong as Liston... at least he showed his worth against really big and talented (some more than others) Heavyweights like Bowe x3, Lewis x2, Douglas, Foreman, Holmes, Rahman, Savarese, and Valuev among others. Liston beat Williams twice but was at least as heavy as the lanky Williams. He also beat Wepner... so what? Ali had the frame, he also easily defeated Liston twice. Liston had the longer reach and a good jab but Holyfield would be able to avoid enough of them to land his own quick and accurate combinations. If Liston did land something good Holyfield would be able to take it as well as any Heavyweight ever did.

    Holyfield by decision.

I agree that Holy was not a speed demon, but what he lacked in speed he made up for in work ethic and putting together great combinations. Holy MIGHT have lost this fight but 1 thing for sure Sonny was going to be flustered, Dazed and Confused throughout this bout. Liston was not known for keeping his composure during tough fights.

Am I alone in thinking Liston destroys every heavyweight of the last 25 years?

Evander can't fight Sonny Liston, he would have to move ,run and box. Anyone ever see Holyfield do that in his career? Sonny by KO round 9

The Holyfield that beat Bowe, Tyson and Foreman could arguably be favored to beat Liston.
