This is a tough fight to call. But as I think about it more, I think the difference is Holyfield's heart and especially his chin. He'd for sure be taking some shots from Wlad but if he can get inside a pressure him, then Wlad doesn't seem to have an answer for that, other than to hope it doesn't happen. But he's footwork has improved a lot since he was fought Sanders and so that's why it's not an easy call. Either Holyfield gets inside and then he would likely win by TKO or Wlad keeps him on the outside and wins by decision. If I had to bet on this fight though, I'd bet on a prime Holyfield winning.
Thats some pure **** you have managed to invent there. Douglas wasn't in the slightest hurt in that fight. He just turned up as fat as a pig, took a right hand went down, laid on his elbow, helped the ref with the count, took the money and fvcked off. He actually ridiculed the sport of boxing that night, as he had no intention of making a contest of it. That said I believe Vlad couldn't hurt Holy, but eventually Holy's punch output would get the better of the Ukraine fighter. However don't even dream Buster took that fight at all seriously, never mind say it.
I don't think prime Holyfield gets KOed. Nor do I think Wlad would try that hard. But I do favor a long night of jabs and 1-2s from the much taller Vlad who stays on the outside, ties up holy if he gets inside, and wins a decision. If you are that much smaller than Vlad, the only way to beat Vlad I feel is with explosive movement and power. Someone more like Tyson. Not really Evander's motto.
That's as dumb as if I said Wlad isn't bothered by small explosive brawlers because he knocked out Mormeck :deal
I have great respect for both fighters. But Holyfield always has problems with tall skilled big men. I think that Wlad is disciplined enough and skilled enough to pound out a UD.
Wladimir is great at keeping dictance and using his weight / height advantages over his opponents. But still I think that prime Holyfield is just to much for him. Biggesst heart in boxing goes out to Holyfield.
This. It's evident that big highly skilled boxers always caused Holyfield big problems. He showed a lot of heart against Bowe and it did work in the second fight (I also felt like Bowe underestimated Holyfiend in their second bout) but against even more skilled guy like Lewis, Holyfield's style didn't work, despite of his heart. Wlad Klitschko is obviously more cautious boxer than Lennox, so he surely wouldn't go in open war with Holy (Wlad actually never went into an open bar during his reign). Very bad matchup for Holyfield stylistically.
everyone boxer on the planet has problems with tall fighters that possess ATG skills... so your point is king of strange. remember, holyfields second fight against lewis was very close and could have gone either way. furthermore, lewis jab is comparable to wlad's and lewis was not able to constantly keep the distance, so how is wlad going to achieve this with literally no insight game? you also should consider that wlad's insight wrestling could easily be counterd by numerous headbutts
