While I can understand why you used Bowe vs. Holyfield as an example, there is one fundamental flaw in using that fight; Bowe was a terrific inside fighter whereas Vitaly and Wlad aren't. Bowe successfully matched Evander on the inside and that is how he pulled this one off. Vitaly and Wlad are big men but that's where the comparison stops. I think Evander beats both Vitaly and Wlad. Personally, I think he has a tougher time with Wlad than he does with Vitaly.
Vlad is overrated. Vitaly is the better overall boxer. If they fought each other my money would be on Vitaly. Vitally has the better chin, better condition, better pacing ability, greater punch volume, better defense, footwork, and ring generalship. Only areas I give Vlad the superior marks is he is physically stronger and has the harder punch, but in boxing, the areas that Vitaly is superior more than overcome the areas that Vlad is superior. In fact, even though Vlad is stronger and has the harder punch, Vitaly still has the higher KO percentage because of all those other areas in which he is superior, which leads to more KOs for him as well.
The Holy that fought Foreman till the second Bowe fight? I like Holy in both, I believe he has a tougher time with Wlad due to the power in his jab and right. Against Wlad Holy will have some scary moments, but Holys speed and combos lead to Wlad getting stopped. UD over Vitali who is too slow.IMO prime for prime Wlad is a better technician than Vitali.
Lets look at some of Holyfield's losses and close fights: - dominated by Chris Byrd, who was destroyed twice by Wlad and dominated by one armed Vitali. - dominated by Larry Donald, who was knocked down 4 times and KTFO by Vitali (was the only man to knockdown and KO Donald). - dominated by Sultan Ibragimov, who was dominated by Wlad. - drew and lost to John Ruiz, who was defeated by 3 Wlad victims (David Haye, Ruslan Chagaev, Danell Nicholson) - KO'd by James Toney, who was dominated by Sam Peter, who was destroyed and ruined by the Klitschkos. - drew and lost to Lennox Lewis, who was dominated and retired by Vitali. - struggled and barely beat Ray Mercer, who was annihilated by Wlad (was the first man to knockdown and KO Mercer). - struggled and barely beat Vaughn Bean, who was destroyed by Vitali (was the only man to KO Bean). - beaten twice by overrated bum Riddick Bowe, who was totally outclassed and destroyed twice by Andrew Golota, who was KTFO by 4 Klitschko victims (Brewster, Adamek, Austin, Lewis) Holyfield was a good fighter, but he's nowhere near the Klitschkos level. Either Klitschko destroys Holyfield.
Knock it off. You can't consider those fights because Holy was shot and well past it for the vast majority, or, for the ones against whom he was not past it, the guys with whom he struggled with were past it or near the end of their careers when the Klits fought them. Not valid comparators whatsoever. The average Joe can be fooled by that logic, but not knowledgeable seasoned followers of the game.
When matchups of this kind are projected it is assumed,[unless stated], that all fighters are "prime". This makes your post irrelevant.:hi:
My response to this post is either you are trying to distort facts by only focusing on Holyfield in decline or you are not distorting facts, believe what you are writing and are simply clueless .. either way your argument holds zero merit.
