Hopkins continues to get underrated. I know why. Nothing stands out about him when you look at him except that he gets it done with his mind. How do you measure intelligence? It's easier to measure hand speed huh? That's why he's always the underdog in every big fight. People look at him and think he doesn't measure up well.
God love you man. That is a poor prediction, the KO3. Hopkins never blew anybody decent out in his prime early doors. What on earth makes you think he would do it to Calzaghe.
If you guys notice when people ask him why he thinks he will beat a certain fighter, Hopkins always gives the same response almost every time, "Because i'm the better fighter."
Cool, what is your point? That he thinks he is the better fighter in all the fights he is in? or that he thinks he is the best fighter?
My point is that people look at measurables to judge Hopkins when it's obvious that his greatest trait is his mind. That is why you don't hear Hopkins say, "I have better hand speed or i hit harder". He relies on his intelligence first and foremost and that's why he always answers, "i'm the better fighter".
If boxing was based on raw talent alone, Zab Judah would be a P4P king and Hopkins would be an average journeyman.
Yeah but when you are facing somebody who has not lost in 17 years, is supermly confident in himself, can fight in a number of different ways and has massive speed and stamina advantages it means little that Hopkins has great boxing intellegence.
What did I predict would be the outcome of this prime-prime match up? Calzaghe close UD is not pushing the boat too much is it? Does thinking Calzaghe would win a close UD make me a nuthugger? Also in terms of the fight on the 19th, does that mean that everybody that thinks Calzaghe is going to win a wide UD is a nuthugger?
I just see you everytime when someone asks for the outcome and you say something like, "Hopkins will be lucky to win a round or two". :nut
