AND 3 fights with Roy Jones and Jermaine Taylor.... Obviously Calzaghe has been in with better guys and has accomplished SO much:rofl
Calzaghe said that he was outa balance when he took a right hand from Salem that put him down justlikethat, and he was also outa balance against Mitchell and you could have seen he didn't recover his balance when getting back up... Listen people, I like Cal and he had great displays against Eubank, Sheika, Woodhall, Veit, Lacy and Kessler but Cal's fans should not get too much ahead of themselves... OK, he has advantages against Bernard now and should win a decision, but that's only that.
Thats because americans refuse to recognise none-americans. Look at Baseballs ''world series''!!! how many countries play in that?
Help me remember, what were the results of those three fights with RJJ and Taylor again?? Staying undefeated since age 17 in amateurs and pros, beating up undefeated belt holders of his own weight class twice, never needing to get away with illegal tactics or dubious scoring to win a fight...I would say that Calzaghe was the more dominant fighter, not more accomplished, but more dominant. Take headbutts and elbows away from Hopkins and he could easily have a few more losses.
The amount of viewers makes no ****ing difference and says nothing about the talent of a fighter. NOTHING. Don't even think about using that as an argument. It's no different in music -- I work for probably the most talented band on earth, no bull****. They are by no means mainstream. "Mainstream" usually means "crap" in the music business. Boxing has similarities at times. You'll find some incredibly talented fighters who never get the respect they deserved. In art, it's the same thing again. That's why Van Gogh only ever sold two paintings in his entire lifetime. One of those was to his own brother. Vincent died in poverty. After that, he became well known and called a genius with the paint brush. Einstein got called a freak and was considered by his teachers to be a troublesome pain-in-the-ass student. He wasn't recognised for what he was until he was an old man. That's how it always goes down. Just because a fighter isn't popular in the general public's eyes, just because a musician isn't topping the charts, and just because an artist isn't the flavour of the month... none of it means ****.
I am not saying Kessler would necessarily beat a prime Hopkins, but I would give Kessler a better chance against Hopkins than against Calzaghe. I don't think Hopkins' roughhouse tactics would impress a 6'2 athlete like Kessler, who could possibly use his long arms and accurate punching very well in this matchup.
That's a good post bro. I too spent many years playing music, but have over the last couple years given up on it, having to work "regular job" full time to really make ends meet. I had tons of fun in my younger years where I played guitar and vocals. Had the most success (although generally less money to keep in this band, as we were re-investing most) playing bass in a really heavy out fit. Played large festivals from Nashville, TN to Cleveland, OH lots of fun, but got old being around all gothic people all the time. lol. Played drums a few spots as well. Tell me more about your experiences bro??
the trinidad fight is a classic that hakkar fight was funny as hell the fact that hopkins can fight both oscar and antonio(antonio being naturally somewhat bigger) speaks well for his gym ethic
news flash numbnuts, only hatton huggers and floyd haters gave hatton a real chance. most brits knew floyd would school him.
good post nice valid points and a good question...Ok so lets hear it, for all of you that **** on Calzaghe's resume...well answer the question to this thread:think
