So your hypothesis hangs on the assumption that Willard is on the same sort of level as Jeremy Bates.

The problem there, is that if that assumption is wrong to a greater or lesser extent, the whole hypothesis comes crashing down like a house of cards.

    Beware assumptions in this game.

What weight does everyone think Prime Holyfield would come into such a fight? Would he be coming in around 190?

    He's better than Jeremy Bates.
How does Jeremy Bates compare to Max Schmeling, in your opinion ?

The bottom line is that not all fighters that are good, look good on film.

Max Baer beat Max Schmeling, who looks incomparably better.

Tony Galento beat Lou Nova, who looks incomparably better.

Those are exactly the kind or results that could bring down the palace of cards that you have elaborately constructed.

Do you see why I am reluctant to let you act as judge jury and executioner, based on your interpretation of how fighters look on film?

Then consider the possibility that you might be missing something.

Some guys don't like to admit sports move on. Every measurable sport has moved on massively.

Similarly in football 1970s Brazil would be destroyed in the modern Champion's League because the pace was just too slow.

No I think boxing has evolved. But the statement that every measurable sport has improved is untrue. I'm a big sports fan and I hear that tossed around a lot and it's false.

LOL, they can schedule it for a 100 rounds......because Holyfield is getting it done in under ten.....pure target practice....Holyfield could not miss if he tried.

Some less than great fighters made it past ten rounds against Holyfield.

This is all besides the point though.

Even if he were a knockout artist like Louis or Tyson, he simply couldn't go into a 45 round fight gambling everything on ending it inside ten rounds.

    Do you not understand this?

Jesus, is Willard even allowed to fight back here?

However dogmatically you assert that Willard cannot achieve anything, he was a lineal champion, with considerable durability, and a big size/reach advantage over Holyfield.

You are making wild assumptions here, and quite frankly, you are not offering much by way of justification.
