    Langford is a bit of a special case. He was a man with the upper body of a 190lb heavyweight, effectively stunted into a 5' 6'' frame. He migth have hit harder than Dempsey, but if he did, then he is the exception that proves the rule.

    I suspect think that a lot of what Bob Fitzsimmons did, was based upon speed and immaculate delivery. A tremendous puncher for sure, but perhaps not as hard hitting in terms of pure power, as the heaviest hitters in the 190lb class.

    Both of these men probably had the power to stop Willard or Fulton, but I don't think that they could have closed range on the like Dempsey did.
