You're going off Ring rankings, where Spinks was #1 since 1985. Remember that post of yours, what, 20 minutes ago? We can keep going, I don't care.
Yeah I'm going off of the rankings not the dumbass champs who they give an irrelevant "title". Is this your game? Completely ignore everything in a post and say some dumb sh*t? That's what you're presenting to the forum right now.
You're just acting immature because you've been exposed to the truth about someone you thought was better than they actually were.
I'm not arguing that. Can you you put 2 and 2 together? Try to figure out my argument on the matter at hand.
You've literally been sh*t posting insult laden remarks and providing no real evidence of how Tyson defended against the best.
You need to be crystal clear about what you're arguing. First you said Holyfield wasn't ready to fight Tyson until 1989 then when I say "yeah I know" you freak out and start claiming you weren't arguing that. Which is it? The onus isn't on me to guess and decipher what you are trying to convey to the forum. The onus on you is to be specific about the points you are trying to address. Try to keep up please.
So why didn't Tyson face the #1 contender? Answer: Because Spinks was #1 and Tyson was #2 until June 28, 1988. Holyfield wasn't #1 until after Dokes in early 1989, probably. Not 1987 because Evander wasn't even a heavyweight yet. Not 1988 because Carl Williams was next in line according to the IBF. Back to square 1.
Also, Tim Witherspoon had gotten KO'd in 1 round by Bonecrusher Smith. That's gotta send him back a few steps because he did lose spectacularly and embarrassingly. He would've gotten a shot but wasn't cool with Don King.
I never said Tyson had to fight the number 1 contender. My main beef is him fighting all of those unranked guys after Biggs and before Bruno. Btw I made a mistake. Bruno was number 1 when Tyson fought him. Yeah I know.
I have KO magazine's rankings right here from September 15, 1988. This is the January 1989 issue: 1. Mike Tyson 2. Tim Witherspoon 3. Carl Williams 4. Tyrell Biggs 5. Orlin Norris 6. Michael Dokes 7. Frank Bruno 8. Francesco Damiani 9. Evander Holyfield 10. Buster Douglas 11. Tony Tucker 12. Razor Ruddock So why not the argument for Orlin Norris, or Damiani? They were heavyweights their entire career. I can't believe Tyson didn't face them!
