I don't know about that.. This to me is slugfest, doesn't go past 6 rounds, and is coin flip. Tyson has around 27 pounds on Dempsey, was extremely fast, hit hard with a chin. I do think Dempsey is the better boxer, fast as well with better infighting.. But out the gate, there is no argument against the huge physical advantage Tyson has on Dempsey.. Both are landing big shots in this one and saying that one can easily best the other is underestimating the other guy ..imo
Assuming that Dempsey could take Ruddock's power. This would be a 230-240 pound power puncher landing on 180-190 pound Dempsey. But if he could take Ruddock's power or alternatively put serious hurting on Ruddock first, then Dempsey could win.
The only guy Ruddock fought that was anything like Dempsey took his best sunday punch square on the chin and kept coming forward.
Tyson? To be fair, Tyson was 25-35 pounds of muscle heavier than Dempsey and even as a washed up fighter took Lewis punches for 8 rounds and still went down partly due to stamina. I don't just mean "like Ruddock" or "like Tyson" in terms of just style alone, but in the sum total of attributes to include style. Lamotta dropped Ray Robinson who was very similar to Ali in terms of style, but very different in physical attributes so Lamotta dropping Robinson wouldn't mean anything as far as him being able to probably drop Ali is concerned once you factor in the physical attributes.
Dempsey by decision Tyson was a bigger harder hitting and more refined version of Dempsey. However, Dempsey was just as fast, had an underrated jab. IMO once Dempsey realises how strong Ruddock's smash is, he avoids it. Dempsey had a very good overhand right hand and i feel that he will nail Ruddock with several hard rights everytime Ruddock drops his left. Dempsey gets there first with his speed. Dempsey UD in an exciting fight.
