Prime Jake LaMotta vs Sergio Martinez?

Just because you can cut the ring off on Ray Robinson doesn't mean you can cut the ring off on Sugar Sergio Martinez. That's all I know.

 

To be fair, I don't think Martinez has truly arrived yet to warrant beating LaMotta.

I don't really see what others see in Martinez. Anyone with no gaurd that ****s about is getting punished by Lamotta. He's not good enough to outpoint him boxing, as Lamotta swarm-****s boxers anyway. And his confidence will eventually be shattered when he realises his power doesnt even phase Lamotta. And gameness will be exhausted out of him after 10 rounds of gruelling body pummelling, which i think will lead to a late TKO.

Martinez is quite elusive with his head and has a great chin, Lamotta has both nullified as he'll be attacking the body. And the body will be there for him to hit, as Martinez will brawl and look for the KO, but it will never come. His power is his other great asset, nullified also by Lamotta's world war II super soldier experiment chin.

 

Lamotta a much different animal than Paul Williams and Antonio Margarita ...Jake nails him down with pressure

 

if jake can beat holman williams and lloyd marshall, he can cut the ring on sergio and eke out a margarito esque result. awesome fight though.

im with you, i think sergio is a good fighter but a little hyped. i honestly dont think he deserves the #2 spot p4p like ive seen most writers give to him. I think Donaire is the better fighter. One thing I remember although I only watched the fight once, is prior to his eye being cut badly Pavlik was often times getting the best of Martinez. Pavlik is no Lamotta. I say Martinez gets beaten up in this one.

 

He didn't beat Marshall, Holman was 34 with 177 fights when he won a close decision I believe

Not sure on the result of this, Lamotta doesn't swarm over everyone the way people think he does and lost to plenty in his own time. Martinez has technical faults but is still a handful for most MWs in history with his speed and movement
