This i think would be one of those fantasy match ups atleast in my mind both great counterpunchers but at the stage in there careers where they are still using their offense a lot

I would go with Toney in a split decision, with his proficient use of the jab to set up his counters proving the difference

    so as the saying goes....WHOUPICKIN?:bbb

Toney was the man back in the early 90's.

thats what i would think too, ppl just dont understand how much of a beast Hopkins was in prime, but with all do respect the fact that toney has the advantage on reach and punch output, he would win a SD

this is an interesting fight.. i dont know who to pick. both guys were great infighters and i see a lot of exchanges taking place there. i think hopkins is slightly cagier than toney and his fleeter foot wins the fight

If both are in optimal shape(which Toney rarely was and Hopkins always is) it is still a 50/50 fight.

At 160 Hopkins wins because his camp is preparing to fight, not to lose weight. Hopkins 8rounds to 4. But it's even at the halfway point.

At 168 Toney wins a close one. The 8 pounds make all the difference in the world during training. More work on gameplan than conditioning. Toney wins 7 rounds to 5.

At 175 Hopkins is too disciplined, whereas Toney waits til the last minute to shape up. Hopkins in a whitewash.

IMO if they both are in peak shape, and fought 4 times at any weight 2 wins apiece.

Hopkins would use his superior footwork to keep it an outside fight where he just is better. Clear UD.

Hopkins middleweight reign was dominant but he hardly had a defining fight against another great middle did he. Go check his record, hes best wins were against (great)naturally smaller men thats why some envisage a fighter like Toney with his skills walking away with it
