Id pick Hopkins,I just think he would be prepared to work harder in the fight itself and in the training for it.

Both are greats...and Toney (IMO) doesn't get the overall credit he deserves. But with that being said, I would have to pick Hopkins at his best at middle, over Toney at his best at the weight. It is very close, but what shades it for me is Hopkins' overall versatility. He has the ability to use his footwork to create distance between himself and Toney's right hand counters. It is a matter of who makes who give chase and initiate first...both prefer to counter. Hopkins has more tools from the outside and Toney feeds off of fighters who over-commit by killing them with body shots. Hopkins does not over-commit, and unless Toney is able to move his feet and close distance (which he has never been prone to do) Hopkins would either move away from Toney's intermittant bursts, making him reset, or counter Toney's left hook and right hand by making him reach just a shade more than he would rather do. Toney wins an inside fight, but I don't think Hopkins would elect to fight him there. Hopkins' jab would be key, because Toney cannot out jab Hopkins from distance..."drops of rain...drops of rain..."
    Hopkins very close decision.

    very good anlysis:good

but also i think ppl really underestimate how much toney used his jab, and he had a 76 in reach so he could have a very good outside game

Hopkins for me, too good a ring general for a counter-puncher whose kryptonite was always mobility and or footwork.

One of them is winning by SD I think.

Still not sure which though, I lean towards Toney.

    Maybe.

Toney has the advantage on reach? WTF?
Toney doesn't have ****! Toney's reach is 72 inches and Hopkins reach is 75 inches.

Hopkins would use his footwork to controll the distance and counter effectively whenever Toney got in range. Obviously a very close matchup.
