Prime James Toney vs Deontay Wilder

James would make him look utterly inept in there.

 

Wilder by stinkfest.

Wilder has massive reach advantage and he knows how to use it.

Toney would be too small.

 

I think Toney would cause him head aches but that sly slick rolling punches style only goes so far when the other guy is 6'7 ,Wilder is fast and sporadic with power ,i dont think Toney adjusts to that ,i can see Wilder getting a k.o with enough shots landing on top off Toneys head as he tries to duck and weave under him.

 

Toney from Washington till Peter was a force to be reckoned with.

He was easily the quickest HW around bar Jones but better than that his infighting skill put him head and shoulder above those he faced.

That being said Wilder has incredible power and good handspeed.

Toney will take his leverage away up close and make him look foolish.

I think Toney wins.Wilder is too amateurish.

 

Even though Wilder is unproven, I favor him to win here.

I don't like Toneys style against a big puncher like Deontay.

 

I see Wilder being too physically imposing for James to get any work done, resulting in Deontay chasing him all night while Toney just survives..

Like mentioned above, stinkfest. What he'd do is stay way way out on the outside and never follow through and step behind anything. So James has to use his legs in there to do anything. Just think where Toney's feet have to be set to land on this guy.
One good thing about Wilder is his gastank and he does show up in top shape. It's the other guy that doesn't.
The fight wouldn't see 25 clean punches landed by both guys added up & Wilder's busier hands get the decision win & Toney's antics are not going to get Wilder to change & slug and play the trade game later on in the fight.

I also think Breland would have the proper fight strategy mapped out to fight a negative type bout to secure a W.

Toney wasn't that good on the frontfoot, if you fight with him you get countered.
But if you stick and move he's much less effective.

Do you honestly believe Wilder would chase Toney all night without getting hit by one of Toney's counters? Toney would eventually get him and when he does its all over. Toney being one of the slickest counter punchers and finishers in boxing history isn't getting out pointed by no giant, uncoordinated, lunging, chinny idiot.
