Would Toney be able to KO Golovkin? Toneys shoulder rolls and couners were made to nullify agressive fighters like GGG. Golovkin can box very well and has a good chin, but the picture i see in my head is Toney landing counter rights with sweat flying off Golovkins head.
What a brutal fight, toney loses not only the fight bit the better part of his career. How punch drunk he is now, late 40's is how he'd sound hours after leaving the hospital. Dude was too tough for his own good against a killer like GGG. No neither had been in the ring with anyone comparable to the other but ggg is in his own frigging universe.
Toney easily beats GGG. GGG is not an infighter contrary to his ultra-killer hype. He's a mid-range fighter who needs some distance between himself and his opponents and almost always clinches on the inside, similar to Mike Tyson. Toney's nightmares involve jabbers and movers or people who can box on the outside. GGG does not know how to fight on the back foot or fight like a traditional outfighter. Oh, and he's too slow to try. Toney puts a counter punching clinic on GGG and wins a wide UD if the counter punches don't stop Golovkin.
I disagree that Golovkin doesnt know how to fight on backfoot, he may not be a rangy guy but he certaily knows how to box from the outside and keep jabs in opponents face.
Golovkin looked alright jabbing Lemieux, but he did not counter punch whenever Lemieux would rush him. Toney as seen in the Nunn fight was actually a pretty good counter puncher on the front foot when he tried. I don't see how Golovkin can stop that. He can't penetrate Toney's defense and he can't box him on the back foot like Monzon or Nunn could.
Toney ate 500 shots from jirov who is arguably a top ten all time cruiser weight He'd have no problems with gggs power
Go watch Toney vs McLellan sparring at the Kronk Gym on Youtube and then tell me how GGG even holds a candle to this guy prime for prime. Toney was a beast at his best.
