Toney would definitely cause a lot of problems, but ultimately Hagler will work through them by moving and making Toney lead, or by going inside and outmuscling him down the stretch. Intruiging fight, with Hagler winning on points.
Interesting. I think Haglers work rate and mixing things up by fighting on the inside and outside would do it for him. Hagler by decision.
I think Toney has a great chance, it would be such a brilliant fight. I'll give Hagler the benefit of the doubt on the strength of the empirical evidence available of him being versatile and of his ability to move laterally and box in his prime.
Toney's right hand counter would serve him rather well here. That being said i think his minimal lateral movement would be a weakness against Hags who would actually do rather well exploiting angles on the outside and at minimal range, though I expect the close game to be all Toney
I'd love to see this! I think Hagler comes in with his search and destroy mentality, which means that while a prime James Toney would have alot of moments (as he would with anyone) Hagler walks through him and grinds out a tough decision win, the key factor being that Hagler is made out of stone and Toney wouldn't be able to hurt him.
i think toney has a good chance , when hes on a roll he has a chance against any of the great middleweights , i think hagler would edge it due to workrate , but then i can see toney countering well with fast hands and winning a sd or ud also
I think marv outmuscles and outhustles james to take a decision albeit a competitive and controversial one (toney never really loses does he?)
