This would be a very solid fight. I like Marvin by a couple of points. James just wont be active enough, and he cant hurt Haglar. Marvin's shotgun jab gets it done here. The workrate and the jab. Although I can see Toney stealing some close rounds and getting into Marvin's head.

Could you imagine the press conference?

Toney doesn't have any chance. he'd be competitive and last the distance but Hagler is in a different class.

    At MW ?

He wouldn't be one of Marvin's three toughest fights.

No doubt hagler, after seeing how easily jones jr beat him there is no doubt in my mind that hagler would beat him. most likely on points. haglers swarming style would be too much for the counterpuncher.

At MW Toney was not nearly as good as he was an SMW. He looked good but never as good as he went on to become at SMW. Hagler would outwork him to a decision with both men taking their fair share of a beating.

Hagler himself said that Toney is the best MW champ to come after him.

Toney was also a physically strong and super tough MW. Just like Hagler. Both have iron chins and wills.
I pick Hagler by a close decision, based on a high workrate that Toney won't be able to keep up for a full 12 rounds. Skillwise, Toney is a bit above Hagler, so he will win the middle rounds after a slow start. Same result in a 15 round fight: Hagler by close UD.

Safety first Hags gets it done with the jab. Comfortable, but competitive decision.

I disagree that Toney is better-skilled than Hagler. But, being very big on them both, the highlighted makes me happy. :D I hadn't heard that.

So he could've done what McCallum tried 2 do . If ur right , then Hagler gets , or at least deserves a draw in d end , but he'll probably get his draw or narrow decision the hard way .

Hagler starts and finishes better, Toney takes the middle rounds. That's basically it. Never underestimate a prime Toney. At 12 rds, it's a pick em fight. At 15 rds, I can only see Hagler winning.
