This would be a brutal fight, with Toney held on his feet only by his extraordinary toughness and durability. Watch Toney-Peter II for how it would play out..... James lands the occasional, attention catching counter, but most of the time, Marciano is bruising Toney all over.

Toney at CW was just as tough as a 42 year old Archie Moore, if not tougher.
If Moore can hang in there for 9 rounds then Toney can hang in there for 12 rounds

Trust me, the only buttons you push are your own. I could care less what you think, or what you post here. I could also care less about your dull life. I also wouldn't call anyone stupid with your history. Your a self proclaimed historian/film maker even though everyone here knows thats just an act. You most likely still live at home in your parents basement. I think the bigger question is what level are you on? I am thinking Level 3

Just do us all a favor...Pack your bags and head bag to the forum in which you came from. Your lack of boxing knowledge, your disturbing humor, and arrogance of a want to be elitist is not welcomed here. You bring nothing to the table. I think it is time for you to go.

    Luis Firpo "Murderous" contender

Maybe he can hang with the 42 year old Archie Moore of 1959, but can he hang with the 38 year old Archie Moore of 1955 who fought Marciano? Highly Doubt it. In fact, I am certain of it.

How many punches per round did Peter through though? And how many would Marciano through? I don“t think many refs would let that kind of beating continue for very long.

I keep hearing conflicting stories, how old was Moore when he fought Marciano?

In the tale of the tape just before the fight Moore was listed as 38.

Marciano is listed at 31 though, but he was really 32, so they may have shaved a year off of both.

Archie had a pretty long reach for a light-heavyweight at 75 1/2" at only 5'11. Moore always looked like his arms were very long. I once saw a tale of the tape that listed him at 78". I think this was inaccurate though.

Toney took the bombs of super heavyweights like Peter and Rachman ... He has never been stopped in his career and rarely hurt despite fighting the best fighters in five divisions. He fought much bigger and harder hitting guys than Marciano. Only a Rocky fanatic would claim he would not have a very good shot at using his skills and his own chin and durability to survive a bout with Marciano ... SQ (note the name) is obviously a Rocky fanatic and you will rarely get a rational response from him on this topic. Emotional, yes. Rational, no.

Moore's age has always been debated and unverified. He admitted to 39 when he fought Marciano but many sources claim he was at least 42. If you look at his face he certainly looked it ..

By the time Moore walked into the ring against Marciano, he had, had around 197 fights and had been koed about 5 times, that's a lot of wear and tear. The Toney who fought Jirov was physically in much better shape than that version of Moore that Rocky fought. I haven't watched enough Moore fights to make a solid comparison between him and Toney, but in terms of skillset they were similiar and I would say that Toney had the better chin as well. So this fight is going to be a competitive fight, which will most probably go the distance
I come across this as well, no bodies really sure what age he was back then.

Well, so far we can say there are seven posters who should stay in the general.

This is ironic because in many ways James is a throwback fighter, a true classic.

I have revised my opinion on this topic and think it would be Marciano by UD. There is no sacrilege, though, in voting for Toney. I just don't think he is active enough to put enough rounds in the bank. Though Toney would catch him with some wicked counters and may even score a flash KD.
