    Pulver at his Best

    - Amazing Striker
    - DEcent enough grappler IMHO, with a good guillotine choke....
    - good stamina and great heart !

So, basically how do you see him going against the best LWs of today
    ???

One of my favorites. Amazing handspeed he had. I think a tall, rangy fighter like Nate Diaz is the only one who would beat him.

Pettis and Barboza will throw too many strikes for their own good, Henderson gets beat to the punch, and Frankie Edgar loses a 5 round war.. They all would lose over the distance.

Maybe lower end of the top 10, probably just making the top 5. He could strike with anybody but his ground game wouldnt be up to scratch

Jens is one of my all time favorites and would do in this divison but not a Champion by any means. Jen's grappling just wasnt up to par, his size would hurt him when facing the Maynard's and Henderson's. Another thing is Jens was too one dimensional with his standup.

Love Jens, definitely one of my top favourites, but he'd pretty much get starched among todays lightweights. As someone said above, his grappling wasn't the best and he'd struggle with the larger wrestlers. I think some of the more dynamic strikers would give him fits as well.

    Still, Jens for life, yo.

    Fair enough for me :deal

Although he would need to be 100% at his best....

Many people saying that his ground game wasn´t great....yes, it wasn´t but was very decent IMO....I don´t think Barboza for example is a better grappler then prime Pulver was.....but of course Barboza is a better striker.....well, I think he would tough against everyone.....

He'd beat the George Sotoropolis' of the world, but would get beat down by anyone that isn't a bad wrestling BJJ guy for the most part.

Prime Pulver would need to be fighting at 145 at the least.

    He'd be battered , badly !!!

A prime Pulver today would be operating @135 , thats the nature of the sport nowadays

But he was a great fighter back in his prime , he really was , he wasnt just a name and a reputation he had a superb game , way ahead of his time

A green-as-hell Joe Lauzon destroyed Pulver. Nothing else to say.

The sport has advanced. He was an "amazing striker" against a weak pool of competition. This is the best the Lightweight division has ever been.

You put Edgar, Pettis, Henderson back in the early days of the UFC and people would **** themselves. BJ Penn is the only person who has made the leap....but that is only in skillset, his motivation didn't come with him so even he could'nt beat these guys.

Prime Pulver wouldn't even be top 5 in todays division.

I think Pettis vs Prime Pulver would be a competitive fight......

I disagree. I think Pettis is an awful matchup for him. Taller, bigger...more versatile and creative striker. I think Edgar would be a closer fight with Pulver to be honest. Henderson and Pettis would beat him pretty bad.
