I really like this match up...it's a fun one to think about. I think it's really close, but Witherspoon had trouble reading Renaldo Snipes' bobbing style...Walcott had that style and specialized in it, and had better over footwork and punching angles than Snipes...Walcott would have trouble with Witherspoon's size and strength. But I think Walcott's unorthodox approach would give Witherspoon pause and allow Walcott to score the sharper punches and come away with a split decision.
Walcott was one of those fighters who could knock anyone out on any given night. Fighting him was like flipping a coin. You either won or you didn't. Walcott could definitely fight no doubt about that either and he was plenty strong. Him and Marciano had a fantastic first round of the first fight. But like mentioned his chin is the only thing that is a problem. I don't see it as so much of a fragile chin just he could get caught with a big punch because he practically broke every rule in the boxing book and that is high risk and high reward. I think we would have seen a much better Walcott had he caught his break earlier and got decent training and nutrition during his prime. I think he could have been an even better ATG perhaps...dare I say it... better than Louis.
I'm thinking Walcott by decision. He's a cutie and i am not sure Witherspoon has the aggressiveness and workrate to beat such a style performed at the level of a Walcott.
