Little boys should keep their mouths shut and their ears open when adults are talking.

The testimony from opponents regarding Jeffries power, often suggested it to be considerable.

    I could produce some quotes.
Fitzsimmons was unequivocally seen as being the best available contender when he fought Jeffries.

With Corbett you could argue the issue, but many felt that he deserved a rematch after his performance in the first Jeffries fight.

The calls for Jeffries to face Jack Johnson seem to start after Johnson defeated Denver Ed Martin in 1903.
I don't think that there was a Jeffries brand to be honest.

He was neither particularly popular, nor fan friendly, nor media savvy.

He didn't really care what anybody thought about him.
If they were the men who were deemed to have the best chance against him, then who else could he fight?
Compare Jeffries title reign to the inactivity of Corbett's and Fitzsimmons's.

You could argue that he was the prototype for the active champion that has become normal since then.

I could see myself doing that, if somehow my goal was to be a senile idiot.

I will give you a flavor of what was being written about Jeffries after his last fight, when he had not yet decided to retire:

The National Police Gazette, which had been very critical of Jeffries for drawing the color line wrote the following observtions on the issue:

"There doesn't appear to be any living pugilist capable of lowering his colors. All the great ones tried, were defeated, and tried again with the same result."

"Jim Jeffries lament over not being able to find an opponent worthy of his consideration would be silenced in short order if he would sidestep his prejudices and agree to fight a black man. Jeffries has no right to draw the color line."

"There are but few who think that Jeffries has any fear of Jack Johnson, but he nevertheless lays himself open to the accusation of cowardice in refusing to fight the husky negro."

"Not that i think for a moment that Jeff has the slightest apprehension of the outcome with Johnson, for I believe that he would be as easy as Jack Munro, but his lofty stance is ridiculous and extreme."

    Jeffries said:

"Jack Johnson is a fair fighter, but he is black, and for that reason I will never fight him. If I were not the champion I would as soon meet the negro as any other man, but the title will never go to a black man if I can help it. I do not think that this fellow has anything on a lot of heavies that I have licked. He is a good man, but not as good as Fitz and Sharkey. He is an in and outer, and has some ***** fights on his record."

Jeffries by ko....just too powerful and tough....if Tyson goes back to 1900 remember to take away some of those combos, if Jeffries goes to Tyson's time , add some combos....probably Jeffries as victor, perhaps

Tyson has NO shot here..it Jefferies? who can beat that great skilled polished guy..certainly not M.Tyson that short unskilled midget taught by the greatest trainer Cus Damato who also is overatted with Mike ...two hasbeens....two that cant withstand the great giant Jefferies...all are doomed here in a place you can make supermen and super heroes at will to your own leisure without including actual reality....if you see Jefferies run...run far away...lock your doors and hide your children the guy was also rumored a Cannibal :ambulance:

Your posts and analysis of the Mayweather v McGregor fight are the absolute worst breakdown of a fight I have ever read. The only comfort you may find is you won't have to worry overmuch about the onset of senility because you have very little brain power to lose!
