OK i was just thinking about this fight and since haye is still considered the champ at 200 who wins this fight . NOW from what i remember Jirov was an excellnt pressure fighter who had a wicked body attack now i don't know who to pick but give me your thoughts
Jirov in his prime would probably take him. Jirov had too many issues (and a long layoff) before his loss to Toney and it was all downhill after that. IMO he should have never moved up to HW. What the heck is he doing now? He needs to be more active.
Jirov UD. It took hundreds of flush shots to the face from James Toney to finally put him down, and that was in the last seconds of the fight. Toney fought the fight of his life to win that night. I don't think Haye can mess with that Jirov, and that was one that was just coming back from a long layoff.
i've always thought about this fight and i remember that jirov was #1 at the tiem in the rings ratings
I second that. Haye would be the naturally stronger of the two at the weight, has the speed advantage, and the one-punch power advantage.
Yeah, where the hell is Jirov these days? Has he retired or what? You don't hear anything about him..Would love to see him fight again. Come on tiger!!
haye hits WAY harder than toney does. the fact that jirov was so easy to hit....haye would stop him early to mid rounds.
Man I don't know about this fight, Haye has chin issues and Jirov hit pretty ****ing hard (he scrambled Mesi's brain at HW). On the other hand, Haye hits pretty ****ing hard as well. He definitely could have KO'd Jirov. I look at it like this: Jirov won a gold medal and had an excellent pedigree. He was a good size Cruiser with good skills, didn't have the greatest chin but had excellent stamina. Haye is a huge cruiser, has a very dangerous right hand, good overall boxing skills. He has had stamina issues in the past and has been dropped. I think if Haye lands big early, he wins. I think if it goes to the later rounds, Jirov wins it.
JMortain said it pretty good, Jirov is a good fighter who is tough as nails and a wicked body attack. His fight with Mesi was pretty excting, a fight I thought was a draw or win for Jirov back in 03 I believe. After clearly beating Moorer the whole fight, he got layed out by one punch in the late rounds, since then I havent seen him around FNF or anything. I think it's a 50/50, Jirov is the tougher fighter, but Haye is the more talented, I could see Jirov taking more shots than Haye, but Haye is the heavier puncher, if Jirov stays on the outside he will be gone in under 6, if Jirov can get on the inside and get some work done, I could see him losing and getting TKO'd in the 9th or 10th.
Jirov gets destroyed ... he was way overrated ... well, not in the US but surely on ESB .. lmao Haye would decapitate any version of Jirov
Maybe Haye gets an early stoppage but if he doesnt Jirov just rapes him all night. Stops him around rd 8 or 9. Jirov was the best cruiser since Gomez and dominated several very good fighters. I think Vasily takes the heart of Haye after taking his best shots early and throwing a ton of leather at him . No way Haye's stamina holds up against the relentless Jirov, as I said before he could stop him early because he is a great puncher but after that he would have to get lucky. 65/35 Jirov.
People, people, people, Jirov remember is an olympic gold medalist so he has skills! The only time somebody has stood up to Hayes bombs, Haye lost. Jirov would come to win (like Thompson) and he would not be intimidated (like Enzo). Haye will land but Jirov has never had any problems taking a shot, Haye likes to dictate the pace of the fight Jirov wont let him. I could see this fight going the same way as Hayes fight with Carl Thompson. Lets remeber Haye wasnt blowing people away prior to his fight with Enzo, yes he was stopping people but they were mid fight stoppages.
