How would you see a prime "'Smokin' Joe'" (from 1970) match up against todays hevyweights, who do you see him beating? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04Ft84Qm_Y8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM15d5l89y4&feature=related
sadly but he was way to small he was a cruser weight in todays standards, he fought at 205 his highest i beleive.
Too small to beat a Klitschko. But he'd beat most of other pretenders. And pfp, he's head and shoulders above them all. ATG.
:huh Anybody with a KO ratio, phsyique/build, speed and willngness to fight like Haye has a chance Fraizer was 5 ft 11 with a reach of 73" and on average weighed 205-210 Haye is 6 ft 3 with a reach of 78" and in his last fight weighed 215 and will probly fill out to be around 220-225 Plus with the KO ratio like that hewould deffo stand a chance raizer didnt have an iron chin either :good
Are you serious? Contain your Britishness please and stop embarrasing yourself. That glass jawed Haye would get suffocating and broken down by the much superior Frazier. It's not even a contest. Haye is so unproven at HW.
This is the ****ing truth. :deal Frazier was on a much, much higher level. Haye is no Foreman or Ali.
atsch because Haye is british you think im being patriotic? im simply saying it wouldnt be a walk in the park like some of you suggest, and weather or not Haye is proven at heavy is irrelevent Fraizer would be a cruiser by todays standards anyway :deal
OF course it is relevant whether Haye is proven or not at heavyweight you jackass. Frazier wasn't protected by a 200 pound limit. He fought beasts and many fighters above that 200 mark. Mathis was 250 or so pounds. Ali and Foreman were well over the 200+ mark and way more formidable and superior than Haye. He also fought in the golden freaking age of the HW division. If you're not biased because you're British than you're just terrible at analyzing matchups or a terrible eye for observing talent. Haye is so unproven and hardly did anything as a fighter in the CW to merit this kind of special treatment. Frazier would break him down. Haye doesn't have the chin, heart, toughness, or skills to beat Frazier. He has to bomb Frazier out which is highly unlikely. Prime Frazier is virtually superior in every aspect except punching power. Seriously, everyone can see it between your Hatton avatar and bradford england location to know that you have pride in your fighters. Giving Haye the benefit of the doubt in a situation he never proved he could deal with is ridiculous. The idea is insulting to Joe Frazier who was and is a real proven champion. A HW champion at that.
Today, Joe Frazier would almost certainly be a cruiser for the bulk of his career. Perhaps he could pull a Holyfield and move up and establish himself, but I'm not sure if the size difference would just be too much to overcome. I do agree he destroys the glass-jawed Haye though.
PetethePrince - it's no use trying to talk reason with British Haye fans. They either have no understanding of boxing history or are so biased that they can't accept that Frazier would annihilate Haye. Haye doesn't have half the skill of Ellis. He wouldn't last three rounds.
