Imagine the Louis of 1938/39 fighting these guys in the years that they fought an old version of Joe. The point I'm making with this thread,is that although I think the Bomber would have beaten them all,he'd have still found each one of them his toughest opponent since Max Schmelling (first fight) Some people ascertain that he'd have beaten Charles and Walcott easily. No dice. Each one of the three would have given Joe problems. Thoughts ?
I agree that he'd ko Walcott, but he;d have to wait until late in the fight. With Marciano, both men would be on the canvas more than once, and Joe would finally break the Rock round about the eighth. Yeah,Charles would be beaten on points, after giving Joe a good fight.
Out of the 3 charles give louis the most difficulty. In a 10 fight series he might even beat the "brown bomber" 3 or 4 times. He had exceptional skills, movement, defense and ring generalship. Walcott would also trouble louis with his slickness but not to to same degree. He would could potentially beat louis but would most likely succumb to a mid to late round ko. As for marciano, he would be the easiest of the three. An old louis was handling rock pretty good with the jab and might have won had his legs not given out on him. A young, swift-handed louis would have little trouble catching marciano with deadly combos, wich would only be magnified with marciano coming in. Aside from catching louis with a monstrous punch and scoring a kayo (which would be possible) his chances of victory wouldn't be good. Louis by ko in 12.
Joe Louis, in his prime, was able to destroy anybody he was able to catch...and I believe that he would be able to catch anybody!
and yet peak Louis had so much trouble with arturo godoy the first time? wilder brawlers far inferior to marciano had their moments with peak Louis like galento and al ettore. Louis never did like being crowded. braddock put him down and schmeling put louis out. Peak Louis was the best fighter there has been but marciano is so awkward hes a bad fight for the best.
Yes, Louis would defeat Walcott though it wouldn't be easy. He'd stop Charles, and get stopped by Marciano. You do mean best Heavyweight, don't you?
I think Louis knocks out every single one of them, but they would be some difficult fights! Louis still had a lot left when he fought Walcott in 47, and Walcott gave him pure hell. Marciano-Louis would be one of the best slugfests of all time. Louis would win, but marciano would dump louis on his ass once or twice. Louis' combination punching just too fast sharp and powerful for Rocky to avoid and to take for a sustained period of time. Charles would outbox Louis for quite a few rounds until joe finds him, then its over.
The PRIME Joe Louis Kos the best Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles and Rocky Marciano. He already kod the "best Joe Walcott when Louis was way past his peak,he lost to prime Charles in 1950 when Louis at 36 was way past his prime, and as much as I liked Rocky Marciano, the Louis who destroyed Max Baer in 1935 punched too fast and hard for Marciano...Speed and power kills. And Louis had both, in spades...
Louis beat split with Walcott despite the verdict in fight one,but Both Joe's had experience. I favor Louis. He would have gotten the decision over Charles or a stop but Charles could be dangerous if forced to fight a different fight. Marciano beat an older Joe pretty easily, a prime version a much tougher order but Marciano would have always been trouble for Joe, this one is a tough pick. I rate Joe higher but prime for prime this one is a war and they would be both their toughest fight.
