Shavers replaces Buddy Baer. Baer hit Louis with a left hook that knocked him down in the first round. See here

It was a left hook that Shavers nearly KO'd Lyle with and it probably would have been a KO if it happened earlier in the round. See here

Could Shavers halt the legendary Brown Bomber and become heavyweight champion of the world?

    Probably not.

As soon as the stories about Shaves power got back to Louis and his team, they would decide that this was a guy who needed to be disposed of early.

Expect it to look like the Quarry fight.

I doubt that Louis would choose to soften him up for eight rounds, and wait for an easy opening.

These days it seems fashionable to upgrade or downgrade a historical heavyweight's power. I believe Shavers' power was true. Nonetheless, I think Louis does him. KO around 7.

Power isn't everything and Louis was used to fighting heavy hitters.

    Louis KO 2

With Shavers power, he could do damage and you see how he almost got Lyle out of there with a left hook and Buddy Baer did floor Louis with a left hook and Shavers did hit harder (or so the story goes) than Buddy Baer. So if Shavers hit Louis with the same shot he hit Lyle with, the Brown Bomber could be hurt.

Shavers has some sort of punchers chance against almost anyone. He actually wasn't all that far off stopping prime Holmes. If he lands that sort of punch on anyone it's danger time.

He couldn't take that much himself tho and top shelf fighters with power are heavily favored to get him out of there early. Tyson, Lewis, Louis etc

How about Louis vs prime Eric Crumble, for an encore?
