I think Tyson takes him out within the first half of the fight

I think that all the stylistic details favour Louis but the nature of the fight is such that Tyson can potentialy win.

In a fight between two wrecking machines you are usualy on safe ground betting against the guy coming forward.

A 1936 Louis could not even BEAT a 190 Lbs Schmeling.

    Tyson by early round KO.

Schmeling is better than anybody Tyson ever beat at the time he beat them.

no he isnt, i would give spinks a very good chance at beating him, schmeling was also very inconsistent so i know he would have dropped decisions to some of the 80s heavyweights.

Spinks could posibly beat Schmeling on a given day but he is not on Schmelings level.

Schmeling in his peak run really only lost to world champions or top flight heavies.

    Sharkey (robbery, beat Sharkey previously)
    Hamas (No1 contender, avenged)
    Baer (all time puncher)
Louis (top 2 all time heavyweight, beat Louis previously)

Can some of the alphabet crew of the 80s split a series with Schmeling?

    Absolutely.

    Are the greater over all?

    Absolutely not.

Have to figure that Tyson heard a lot of slightly tinted stories from Cus', who was fond of times gone by, obviously.

Both are very capable of taking the other out. Though I'd take Louis.

Not because he is an "old-time" fighter. Not because Tyson is Tyson. But because I think Louis is a better fighter, and his style would definately trouble Tyson.

What style? Slower hands, slower overall movement, open defense, mediocre chin? Sounds like an early Tyson KO to me.

I'd pick the Tyson that fought Spinks to beat Louis in a great fight.
