There is an excellent chance that Louis takes him out in the first two rounds. Two geezers put him on the canvas in the first two and neither hit OR FINISHED like the monster that was prime Louis.

    Louis KO2 Marciano.

I do not think Rocky Marciano was too small to defeat prime Joe Louis, and I think he would have been troublesome. I also think Joe Louis would have beaten Rocky Marciano, in a really good fight to watch.

I posted a comment on this same match up under Melankomas post about it recently, here it is:

"Yeah, he has a chance, it's just not a good one.
Using their performances against Marciano as a reference point, Walcott had more stamina, more power, more durability, better reflexes and was much closer to his best shape than Louis was to his.
The reason I'm giving Louis some chance is his jab. As long as Louis doesn't just gas out and become a sitting duck, he can put Walcott on the back foot and take a points win by sniping him with the jab all night. It was good enough to turn a prime Charle's face into a hamburger and it was good enough to frustrate and clobber Walcott a few years before.
The biggest issue is Louis' conditioning for fifteen rounds and his reflexes. He might not even realize Walcott's right hand is heading for his face this time before its too late, and even if he has more stamina than in his fight against Charles, I doubt he will be all that effective past round 10 if Walcott makes him work enough in the previous rounds.
We also saw how impotent that right hand was at point blank range, so Walcott can always find safety by smothering and infighting if he gets in trouble. Forget about Louis tracking Walcott down and finishing if he somehow hurts him"

Louis by KO or stoppage 6-8 rounds. Too powerful, quick, and accurate a puncher in his prime--once he got Marciano in trouble Louis would finish him off with brutal precision!

I don't think Louis would finish him off that quickly. Marciano was incredibly tough, and his pressure style could give Louis some trouble. I've seen Marciano come back from tough situations. It would be a close fight, but Louis would have to be at his best to win. :)

Remember, Louis had his off nights too, and Rocky was known for being relentless. Hard to predict, but I wouldn't rule out a decision win or late KO for either guy. :p

Depends on which Louis you get. The first Schmeling fight Louis could be beaten by prime Marci. still probably Louis. Schmeling had Louis all figured out. The 2nd fight version would be curtains for Rocky. Rocky has to come forward which quickens his demise. Probably KO 5.

"Even old Braddock knocked Louis down. "

Braddock was not quite 32 years old.
Marciano was knocked down by 41 years old Moore, and 38 years old Walcott.

A third of the press voted for Louis and the referee gave it to Marciano by a single round. No,I wasn't there and neither were you!
The difference is ,I don't give a definitive opinion on a fight I have only seen14 minutes of!
