Walcott was knocked out by Al Ettore. Wanna know what happened to Ettore when he tried his luck against Galento?
Everyone was more skilled than Tony, yet he found his way to land that left hook.
Sharkey, Schmeling, Mann, Godoy and Walcott had better head movement than Marciano. 37.5 year old Louis tagged Rocky so often he closed his eye. What exactly are you trying to argue here? That the million times faster prime Louis is somehow going to miss the defensive genius Marciano?

You consider just two things when a pair of punchers face each other?

You don’t consider reach? You don’t consider accuracy? You don’t consider handspeed? You don’t consider defense? You don’t consider combination punching?

Marciano gets kayoed inside the distance - probably mid-rounds.
The 37-year old Louis was still finding him with the jab and giving him problems. Imagine what a 1938-1941 Louis would do to him... it wouldn't be pretty.

Frazier would do no better IMO, potentially even worse. Dempsey is the only fighter at least somewhat in that mould I would give a legitimate fighting chance against peak Louis. Marciano has none of his explosive early tempo & can’t hit as evenly.

    Yes, he did.
"I had a bad weakness I kept hid throughout my career. I didn't like to be crowded, and Marciano always crowded his opponents. That's why I say I could never have beaten him." Joe Louis, May, 1990 issue of Boxing Illustrated

And Walcott beat Louis like a drum and Louis beat Galento.

Still a bum, just street tough guy with good hook, nothing more than that.

Laughable, only Walcott had better head movement and maybe, just maybe Schmelling.

That was Ali being polite for a change. Rocky’s face would look like hamburger after a serious fight with Ali, and he’d barely touch Ali.

Look, I don’t care how many magazine clippings or quotes from Charlie Goldman, who was not exactly objective, you dig up. I respect Rocky and what he accomplished and what he means to so many of his acolytes, and I overrate him on my ATG heavyweight list because of that.

But I think prime Ali, Louis, Holmes, Johnson, Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield and every one of today’s pituitary cases beat Rocky. And in most of those fights he doesn’t see the final bell conscious, although he’d literally die trying. You’re going to have to get down to the Dempsey-Tunney level before he can compete head to head.

He’s not within six solar systems of being the GOAT. And you ain’t changing my mind and I am not going to try to change yours, just stating my .02.

It would be interesting to know where that quote actually comes from. People repeat it all the time, but the only source seems to be a magazine printed 9 years after Louis's death.

Louis in the first three rounds by murder. It would resemble the Galento fight without the flash knockdown of Joe. Except heart Louis is way superior in every department. Great guy, Marciano, but maybe the most overrated in boxing history. His record shows that.

He said he couldn't have beaten him 'easy'. He didn't say that he could never beat him. That's false.

What's the point of admonishing Galento's skills if the guy knocked down a prime Louis 5 rounds sooner than Rocky did a completely shot version of Louis?
Louis was taking Marciano's shots better than Tony's.
Two ton would have been the hardest puncher on Marciano's resume had they fought.

Yeah, but he lost while Marciano beat him.
Even old Braddock knocked Louis down.
Yeah, that why Louis was thrown out of the ring, and Walcott punches alot harder than Tony.
