depends what version of super joe meaning the less refined, brawler - he'd crack jones glass jaw - and long before the 10th late career calzaghe would just school the overrated fraud - no KO - just humilation
So you think that Joe Calzaghe would have been a more difficult opponent for Jones than Toney was? :think Despite the fact Toney was an undefeated P4Per coming off the back of wins against Nunn, Macullum, DeWitt and Barkley?
By far more difficult. Did you see the Toney fight?? Regardless what people say, Toney was probably struggling with the weight and barely was able to get anything off. He showed hes tremendous defence just to last the distance but he didnt really put up much of a battle.
On paper Toney was BY FAR a more difficult and prestigious opponent for Jones, than Calzaghe would have been. Stylistically, Calzaghe doesn't do anything that would trouble Jones. Like I said, Calzaghe was a good fighter, but prime Jones was on another level. Make a list of all the attributes a fighter should have, compare Calzaghe's attributes with Jones. Jones is superior in almost every way imaginable.
Jones wins the first 3 rounds, but they are very close. Calzaghe cuts him in the 4th and Jones complains that he can't see out of his right eye. The doctor stops the fight before round 5. I can't see it happening any other way.
You serious? Your posts are woeful. Did you not read correctly? I said in all likelyhood Toney was struggling with hes weight so it probably wasnt even close to a peak toney. Even if he was peak id pick Roy basically everytime...too much workrate, speed etc(things calzaghe has in abundunce. Now Calzaghe unified the division vs a peak , hungry young lion in Kessler who is a very very good fighter. A world Class fighter. He clearly stepped up in that battle and showed hes quality.
That was post Mclellan when Jones stopped going for the KO. Plus I think he played B-Ball just before that fight.
