Kostya Tszyu was a tremendous fighter, but Castillo is more proven. That said, it's a close fight to predict but I give castillo the edge based on styles.

Tszyu needed leverage to connect cleanly, and Castillo imo is a batter pressure fighter than Hatton.

Castillo uses more measured Chavez-esque pressure. He wont completely starve Kostya of room like Hatton did. Its more his thing to bide his time and chop a guy down.

Jose is used to being the bigger, stronger man in there...when that advantage gets taken away he does struggle somewhat.

I see Kostya winning this at his best. He will pick up the points early and I think his power and shot selection is enough to discourage JLC enough to get the victory.

No way, Hatton was much faster, and really that wasnt a prime Tsyzu that Hatton beat. Tszyu was far more proven than Castillo especially at 140 where he was stronger than most of his comp. Tsyzu was a big physical 140 pounder. Castillo was a big 130-135 pounder.
What fighters has Castillo beaten that rank up there with Tsyzu? None.

You realize that Phillips is much tougher and has a better chin?
You realize that Castillo's only win against a decent opponent at 140 was a controversial SD?
Maybe Castillo's style is all wrong for Vince?

It must be a ***** not knowing how to score a fight. Maybe one day you'll learn.

April 20th 2002. three judges had their scorecard prefilled, because how anyone could score the fight for floyd 116-111 or 115-111 is ****ing beyond me.

Then in the rematch they score it closer???!! :nut :yep

    Corruption anyone?? :deal

It's a difficult fight to call. Castillo was a better fighter, but Phillip's length could give him problems. If the fight is on the inside Castillo wins and if it's on the outside Vince could take it. I would give Castillo the nod as I feel the fight would take place mainly on the inside.

    Ok fair enough.

I recommend his fight with Vernon Forrest if you haven't watched him apart from the Tszyu fight. Vince was tough as nails.

It was a nice good fight. But amateurs are amateurs and pros are pros. Look what Pinto did to Cotto.
