The Martin Murray who only ever got stopped by Golovkin and fought some pretty big punchers

I'll have to think on kessler vs golovkin cos I've never really thought about it... Great fight

 

Well when you put it that way..... given the choice of fighting Gennady Golovkin or hiding behind Rachael's skirt.....

 

Canelo turns Kessler into Swiss cheese or maybe a draw. Maybe I'm severely under estimating Kessler?
I just can't see Kessler stopping kovalev at 175.

 

The irony is that it is Rachael who is now getting "battered in the ring" these days.
Although I suppose Carl is still "leaving it all in the ring".

Canelo is a carefully manufactured product of clever matchmaking.. he's not a SMW.. he juices up to compete with ageing names to convince his fanbase he's the best thing since sliced bread.. Canelo has faced nothing like a peak Kessler. Peak Kessler would clean his clock. Old MW triple G out jabbed him & beat him twice*.. Kessler had triple G esque chin, jab & durability but was bigger, longer & more athletic.. with a higher output..

Kovalev was a shell. He hasn't aged well.. this fight has no bearing on how he'd do versus prime Kessler. Canelo hasnt even KOd a single MW to date.. which just shows how gassed & shot Kovalev was. Kessler pummels him..

 

Canelo ain't fighting a prime anyone,, now let Kessler age like cheese until he's 35 and Oscars pet duck will clamor for him.

Kessler may look robotic but he could put those punches together. The way he battered Andrade with combos was Kessler at his best.

 

Andrade was a paid punching bag.

 

Thats not really what happened is it, it was sort of semi mooted in half assed fashion that a retired 37 year old froch might be interested in a fight but didn't pan out.

 

Martin Murray was rubbish, that's all there is to it. Stopping him in 11 isn't a great achievement.

 

My issue with Golovkin fans on this one is simple.

Golovkin never fought any elite fighters until canelo

He was supposed to smash little canelo to pieces, it wasn't going to last more than a few rounds

Then it Happens and they fight on pretty even Terms, Golovkin shades the first canelo the second imo.

And then you turn around and say Golovkin was a coupke of years past prime but he'd smash up prime elite super middleweight easily though.
